Chloride and PQ-4 maintain higher elastic modulae, exhibiting greater stiffness and better elasticity than PQ-11. Overall, enhanced elasticity in various
humidity conditions demonstrates the polymer’s ability to provide a robust hair style. This is especially true for textured hair, which is very susceptible to styling failure during high humidity. Elasticity also serves as a good indicator of
the performance of the hair styling ingredients in curly hair. Higher elasticity translates into better overall style maintenance, especially curl definition and curl maintenance for consumers with wavy to highly coiled hair under different humidity conditions.
Volumiziation of fine hair The 3V Volscan Profiler from Stable Microsystems is a benchtop laser-based scanner used to measure the volume, density and dimensional profiles of the mannequins treated with the mousses containing Guar HPT Chloride or PQ-11. Products were applied to

the mannequin with damp hair (mousse with PQ-11 on one side, mousse with Guar HPT Chloride on the other side) and detangled with the wide teeth side of an ACE comb. Hair was brushed during blow drying with a Denman brush, starting at the roots and
brushing through to the ends. Bulk volume measurements were taken with the 3V Volscan Profiler. Laser profile measurements were taken before and after product was applied to hair in order to calculate a change in volume in the various conditions.
