BASF pilots end-to-end palm kernel oil supply chain traceability
BASF has completed a successful pilot of a proof-of-concept blockchain platform that enables end-to-end traceability in its palm kernel oil supply chain. Partnering with tech provider
Bext360, BASF said the blockchain platform would allow consumers to access greater traceability for every step along the palm value chain – directly from the farm through to the end consumer. The platform brings the
potential to put greater traceability and ingredient transparency
directly into the hands of the end consumer using fully digitized and secure crypto blockchain technology,” it added. “We are proud to advance our
longstanding commitment to the responsible sourcing of sustainable palm ingredients by understanding how we can leverage the power of blockchain technology,” said Marcelo Lu, Senior Vice President, BASF Care Chemicals North America. “I am excited that we are

Solabia takes wraps off latest ingredients
French manufacturer Solabia has unveiled five products - active ingredients and extracts – for skin care applications in personal care. The new products include SeaLight,
an active ingredient rich in sulphated arabinogalactans contained exclusively in Codium fragile seaweed. Solabia said SeaLight targets the “three
major concerns of the eye contour area”: dark circles, puffiness and crow’s feet wrinkles. The Paris-based company has also launched NeoGlow, an epidermal renewal active ingredient derived from kale sourced from an organic cooperative in Brittany. NeoGlow is said to offer a “gentle and
respectful organic exfoliation for dry and sensitive skin” by stimulating the natural enzymes of desquamation while limiting inflammation. Solabia is also offering three new plant-
based extracts to boost skin radiance. Glycerolat, made using papaya, is an
aqueous extract stabilized in vegetable glycerin in order to adapt to all galenics. Oleat OSUN, made using lily, is a liposoluble
extract obtained by extraction with organic sunflower oil from France. Solabia has also developed Jasmine Water, an aqueous extract obtained by hydrodistillation. “The radiance of the skin is determining,
it affects the perception of ourselves and our image but not only, a glossy skin means health and joy of living!,” said a Solabia spokeswoman. “That’s why the Solabia Group’s research
has focused on the radiance theme and its science by launching new products (active ingredients and extracts) to get a perfect skin and restore its natural beauty,” she added.

sourcing practices while protecting shared interests in quality products for the consumer and data-driven land conservation systems. “We are excited to be working with industry leader BASF, to provide proof of origin, authenticity and sustainability for these critical supply chains. Addressing transparency and
traceability as a new consumer emerging trend, BASF will further explore applying this technology to other ingredients and supply chains.
