Mibelle unveils supramolecular calcium anti-ageing ingredient

Mibelle has launched EpiCalsome, an ingredient designed to combat skin barrier disruption and ageing by replenishing calcium levels. The Swiss company said

EpiCalsome is a “superior calcium delivery system that protects and renews the skin”. The novel technology

“encapsulates calcium ions with phospholipids of the highest quality”, which makes calcium

optimally bioavailable to the skin, it added. EpiCalsome features an

innovative double cone vector system that encapsulates calcium for a simple and efficient delivery of bioavailable calcium to the skin (patent-pending application). “The loss of the skin’s calcium

All smiles for Roelmi HPC with Ener-GY plus

Roelmi HPC has unveiled its latest active ingredient in its biotech portfolio, Ener-GY plus, which is designed to optimize mitochondrial activation of the skin.

The Italian firm said Ener-

GY plus is a cell energizer active ingredient developed by enzymatic biotechnology using upcycled biologically active solvents rich in fruit oligo- elements. Roelmi HPC said clinical

studies show that Ener-GY plus prevents the signs of skin fatigue thanks to a promotion of a youthful complexion by improving skin elasticity, firmness and radiance. Further evaluations confirmed

that Ener-GY plus helps in maintaining the physiological balance in skin microbiota composition. “Thanks to its specific efficacy in supporting mitochondrial biochemical pathways, Ener-GY plus provides positive conditions for metabolism and trophic cell processes,” a spokeswoman said. “It promotes ATP production

in mitochondria, by modulating positively and significantly the cell energizing activity. As a result, it performs an overall beneficial effect on skin ecosystem, decreasing the cellular senescence by promoting a high cellular vitality and responsiveness,” she added.

stores may be a way of combatting the aging barrier dysfunction,” a spokeswoman said. Mibelle claims EpiCalsome

also fortifies delicate skin, and prevents skin dryness and irritation. Mibelle has also recently

introduced NovoRetin, a plant- based retinol, and SLVR’Coffee, an upcycling cosmetic ingredient made from coffee silverskin.

Active Concepts taps hybrid cosmetic trend

Active Concepts has unveiled a prototype kit inspired by the increasing popularity of multifunctional cosmetics among consumers. The North Carolina company

said its Social Renaissance Kit concept refers to “a revival of pre-pandemic social outings and celebrations - it incites the transition from social distancing into the socializing season”. The kit features six

formulations for a night out: eyeshadow, lip & cheek stain, concealer, brow gel, and a

scented balm. Active Concepts says the

kit was developed to promote the idea that makeup can serve both cosmetic and skin care benefits, as more customers look to their makeup case to complement their skin care routines. “Hybrid cosmetics is one

of the largest trends that has been driven by the pandemic and by the customer’s desires to decrease budgets and focus on ‘clean’ formulations with an emphasis on essentials,” a spokeswoman said. “The younger generations

are more conscious of their purchases than previous generations. They want products that can do double duty, and they are eager about wearing more makeup after over a year of being in and out of lockdown,” she added.

VAV Life Sciences launches Cosmos-approved range

India’s VAV Life Sciences has introduced a range of Cosmos-approved clean label ingredients – including lecithin and phospholipid delivery agents naturally derived from plant sources like soya and sunflower - for the European cosmetic industry. Mumbai-based VAV will market

its clean label products under the brands LECIVA-SMAP (soya

lecithin), LECIVA-DIFUZ (soya phospholipids), and LECIVA- LITHE (soya phospholipids), LECIVA-DIFUZ M (sunflower phospholipids), LECIVA-LITHE M (sunflower phospholipids). The development follows VAV’s

recent approval from Cosmos, an international labelling standard, to produce and supply lecithin and phospholipid ingredients globally. The Cosmos approval

allows VAV’s natural cosmetics ingredients to be marketed and commercialized worldwide. Lecithins are ingredients

that can be engineered to form liposomes, structures that have a bilayer membrane resembling the basic cellular membrane structure of the skin.

This similarity makes them

excellent delivery agents that allow cosmetic actives to

penetrate the skin. VAV Life Sciences managing

director Arun Kedia said: “We are excited with the launch of our clean label natural ingredients as it will pave the way for VAV’s foray into European markets. “Now cosmetic manufacturers

will have more options for developing differentiated clean label products with ingredients that consumers trust.”
