from naturally derived and renewable fatty alcohol & fatty alcohol feedstocks, these naturally derived materials offer high purity and exceptional consistency as ingredients for the cosmetic and personal care industries. Purester 24 is particularly interesting as it pertains to playtime. With a considerably low melt point (23°C-30°C), Purester 24 adds a layer of functionality and sensorial enrichment while dramatically enhancing the user experience during the application. A solid at room temperature, Purester 24 quickly melts on contact with skin and produces a smooth and delicate skin feel similar to that of a ‘dry’ silicone. In a cream or lotion formulation, Purester 24 aids in emulsion stability and enhances the application experience. A small inclusion of Purester 24 will contribute to a well structured cream that will take on the characteristics of the Purester and melt while easily spreading on the skin. Absorption is rapid and complete without sacrificing the necessary playtime to effectively cover the desired area.
Replacing lanolin Lanolin is a relatively common and highly effective personal care ingredient. Obtained from domestic sheep; Lanolin is a sebaceous secretion that serves to protect the sheep’s wool from the elements. In personal care and cosmetic applications, Lanolin has several functions, most notably as a skin protectant. Rising costs, animal based ingredient restrictions and malodour are just a few reasons that formulators are beginning to work around and away from this material. Not until recently has there been a
replacement that both looks the part and performs as nature intended. Strahl & Pitsch has spent countless man-hours

developing and testing different blends of natural materials to create a substitute that satisfies the following criteria; specification, visual appeal, sensorial experience and most importantly - function. DR-72 Lanolin Substitute is a 100% natural, vegan and food grade substitute that will allow for enhanced and expanded formulation opportunities.
Replacing petrolatum Petrolatum is an extensively used and often perfectly acceptable ingredient that is typically utilised in a wide range of personal care and cosmetic applications. Effective and economical, petrolatum is valued for its ability to control moisture loss and for its skin protection qualities. These are all legitimate grounds to include petrolatum where applicable, however; green minded consumers do not wish to apply this to their bodies.
For this reason, Strahl & Pitsch produces a line of Natural Wax Jellies that are formulated specifically to replace petrolatum in personal care and cosmetic applications. Natural Wax Jelly can be used as a base for lip balms, pomades, creams, lotions or anywhere you find petrolatum. All of the materials used in manufacturing Natural Wax Jelly are food grade materials there are no issues regarding safety.
Conclusion Waxes play a huge role in the development of successful cosmetic products, delivering a wide range of attributes. As with many naturals, waxes can also be tricky to formulate with at times, but with careful selection of high quality raw materials and expertise from a respected supplier such as Strahl & Pitsch, formulators can reap the benefits of these incredibly versatile ingredients.
