Online gambling is not licensed separately in Mexico. Instead, authorisation to operate online is granted to holders of land-based casino permits, which may extend their activities to digital platforms. As the current regulatory framework does not allow the issuance of new land-based casino licenses, entry into the online market is effectively possible only through partnerships with existing permit holders. At the same time, the payment structure applicable to land-based licenses is formally regulated and remains the foundation for operators conducting activities under these permits. Tere is a requirement for a minimum share capital in amount of ~US$ 2,000,000, whereas precise financial obligations are set on the local level and are tied to the chosen municipality. Land- based licenses in Mexico are granted for a term of up to 25 years, with the possibility of a further extension of up to 15 additional years.
