Ersa Helps Krypton Solutions Expand into Silicon Valley

By Suresh Patel, CEO, Krypton Solutions

vides full-service design, rapid prototyping and low- to medium-volume, turnkey contract manu- facturing services. The company specializes in electronics as-

W

sembly for the semiconductor, medical, defense, se- curity, aerospace, energy, and industrial markets. Krypton provides services that range from engi- neering support and pilot production runs in a high-mix, low-volume and quick turnover environ- ment.

Certifications the company holds include

AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2003, and Medical 13485. It is also RoHS/REACH-compliant and ITAR-registered, as well as environmentally friendly.

Equipment Investments As a contract manufacturer, Krypton is a

start-to-finish solutions provider. Its experienced team works closely with clients to successfully ex- ecute product releases. The company is committed to providing the most comprehensive, end-to-end solutions possible for PCB assembly, box build and test strategy. The company operates in an extremely com-

petitive marketplace for electronics assembly serv- ices, priding itself on using advanced technologies to exceed its clients’ demands for high-quality, cost-effective solutions. As a result, in 2001, it made investments to enhance the capabilities of its processes. After much research, the company part- nered with Kurtz Ersa, Inc., for the purchase of its

three Hotflow 3/20 reflow ovens, three printers (of which two are the VERSAPRINT 2 Ultra stencil printer with 3D SPI), two HR 550 rework ma- chines, two VERSAFLOW 3 selective soldering machines and a wave solder machine.

San Jose Expansion Krypton recently expanded into a new facility

ith headquarters in Plano, Texas, and a recently opened second facility in San Jose, California, Krypton Solutions pro-

first wave solder machine, the EXL4000. Since then, the partnership has grown and

strengthened. Krypton has expanded its lineup of technology from Ersa into two facilities to include

in San Jose. The region was chosen to help more customers locally. The company needed to pur- chase more equipment to outfit the new factory. Krypton chose Ersa’s Hotflow 3/20 reflow oven, which has 10 top and bottom heated zones and four active cooling zones. The oven is characterized by high-throughput operation, low operating cost and an attractive price. The company also purchased a VER-

SAPRINT 2 Ultra, a stencil printer with fully inte- grated 100 percent 3D SPI. Benefits of the system include 3D SPI for the inspection of complex PCBs directly after the printing process. VERSAPRINT stencil reference measurement of the unprinted PCB can be performed before every print. With the VERSAFLOW 3, Krypton benefits from a flexible system configuration and CAD assistant for offline programming. VERSAFLOW 3 is designed to pro- vide secure process control with monitoring of all relevant processes and to offer a link for traceabil- ity systems. The HR 550 rework system is designed for the

highest requirements in terms of precision and process safety. The system has a 1,500W, high-per- formance hybrid heating element to desolder and solder SMT components up to 2.8 x 2.8 in. (7 x 7 cm) in size. Dipak Patel, owner of Krypton, says that the

Ersa equipment brings significant value to the company, and ultimately, to the customers. “Just as we pride ourselves on offering the highest-qual- ity product at the best competitive pricing, we have found Ersa to meet those same high expectations with great service and reliability.” He adds that he
