Yamaha Launches Solder Paste Printer with Auto Changeover

Kennesaw, GA — Yamaha Motor Cor- poration USA’s Intelligent Machinery (IM) division has launched its YSP10 solder paste printer. According to the company, it is the industry’s first sol- der paste printer with a completely automatic changeover system. The YSP10 is the successor to the YSP, a high-end printer that includes com- pletely programmable squeegee angle adjustment and stencil suction mech- anism as standard. The YSP10 has been newly de-

signed and developed from the ground up, in order to enable full au- tomation of production changeover, which typically occupies a large amount of working time during an average production shift. In addition to existing automat-

ic program changeover and print sta- bility control (PSC) systems, fully au- tomatic changeover is enabled by au- tomatic support pin exchange, auto- matic stencil replacement and auto- matic solder paste transfer functions. It is this last feature that is truly in- novative — removing solder paste from an existing stencil and transfer- ring it to another in about one minute, with no operator interaction. In addition, the overall process

cycle time (including stencil clean- ing) has been improved by 20 per- cent. Other enhancements include compatibility with a wider range of circuit board sizes and a significant

with 5 MP color camera imaging technology that offers high-speed PCB inspection with exceptional de- fect coverage. With one top-down viewing camera and four side view- ing cameras, the FX series inspects solder joints and verifies correct part assembly.

Programming the FX series is

fast and intuitive. Operators typical- ly take less than 30 minutes to create a complete inspection program, in- cluding solder inspection. The FX se- ries utilizes a standard package li- brary to simplify training and ensure program portability across manufac- turing lines. Advanced Fusion Light- ing™ and newly available 5 MP im- age processing technology integrates several techniques, including color inspection, normalized correlation and rule-based algorithms to provide complete inspection coverage with an extremely low false failure rate. Con- figurable for all line positions, the FX series is equally effective for paste, pre- and post-reflow and final assem- bly inspection. Offline programming maximizes machine utilization and real-time SPC monitoring provides a valuable yield enhancement solution. Contact: Naprotek, Inc., 90 Rose

reduction in cleaning paper con- sumption volume with its redesigned stencil wiper system. By automating the changeover

process, the YSP10 is designed not on- ly to eliminate operator involvement in this step, but to also dramatically re- duce the time it takes to change pro- grams. Reducing the changeover time from more than 15 minutes to a mere 2 minutes (under optimal conditions) al- lows a higher mix of products to be run in a production line, while improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
