Ironwood Intros Clamshell BGA Test Socket
Solutions for Electronic Assemblies and Systems
Eagan, MN — Ironwood Electronics recently introduced a new stamped spring pin socket addressing high-per- formance requirements of BGA1089, the CBT-BGA-6082. The contactor is a stamped spring pin with 0.7 oz (19g) actuation force per ball and a cycle life of 125,000 insertions. The self inductance of the contac-

tor is 0.93 nH, insertion loss is less than 1 dB at 21.9 GHz and it has a capacitance of 0.097 pF. The current capacity of each contactor is 4A at 72°F (40°C) temperature rise. The socket’s operational temperature range is –67 to +356°F (–55 to +180°C). The socket has a clamshell lid
for ease of chip replacement in the production environment. It also has an integrated compression plate for vertical force actuation, without dis- torting device position. The specific configuration of the package to be tested in the CBT-BGA-6082 is a 1.4 x 1.4 in. (35 x 35 mm), 0.04 in. (1 mm) pitch, 33 x 33 ball array. The socket is mounted using
supplied hardware and uses a small footprint. The small footprint allows inductors, resistors and capacitors to be placed very close to the device for impedance tuning. The BGA is placed into the device and the lid is
closed by snapping to the latch. Vertical force is applied by turning its compression screw.

components for power dissipation and it can be customized for higher power dissipation by adding an axial flow fan and a finned heat sink. The socket can be used for quick device screening, device characterization at extreme temperatures and final pro-
duction test. Contact: Ironwood Electronics,

to provide attractive, lighted position indication for demanding applica- tions, where reliability is critical. The LP3S offers tall and dome-style but- ton choices, optional printed legends, a watertight seal option to IP68S and IP69K, six standard LED color choic- es and a logic level option. The LP3S is designed for use in grips and other applications with limited space in off- highway, material handling, industri- al controls, marine and other harsh commercial applications.
The vandal-resistant LP3S-V
offers flat and domed actuator bezel shapes, a variety of button types, a watertight seal option to IP68S and IP69K, six standard LED color choic- es, a logic level option, and has both aluminum and stainless steel cases. The switch offers positive tactile feedback and both flat and domed actuator bezel shapes. The LP3S-V is suitable for marine, off-highway, industrial control and panel applica- tions that require a secure, rugged,
sealed, illuminated switch. Contact: OTTO Engineering,

RFMW Now Supports Qorvo GaN Amplifier
San Jose, CA — RFMW is now selling and supporting Qorvo’s QPA2213 high-performance, wideband, driver amplifier. The GaN on SiC amplifier provides greater than 2W Psat across a bandwidth of 2 to 20 GHz. Designed to support applications in EW, radar, commercial and military communica- tions systems, and test equipment, the QPA2213 has a small signal gain of 22 to 25 dB with a large signal gain of 16 dB. Matched to 50W, it offers flexible DC bias conditions to optimize power output versus power added effi- ciency (PAE). The device is offered in a small, 0.2 x 0.2 in. (4.5 x 4.5 mm) air-cavity package. RFMW is a specialty electronics
distributor focused exclusively on customers that require RF and microwave components and semicon- ductors, as well as component engi-
