Amada Miyachi Intros Desktop Resistance Weld Checker

Monrovia, CA — Amada Miyachi America has introduced its MM- 400A desktop resistance weld check- er. With the MM-400A, operators can easily monitor and manage key weld- ing variables that result in changes in weld heat, including current, volt- age, time, force, and displacement. The compact unit supports AC, DC inverter, AC inverter, transistor, and capacitive discharge resistance weld- ing technologies. The MM-400A is suitable for

use in process development, where it can be used to correlate waveform and numeric data with process results and provide detailed weld data for process optimization and validation. In a production environ- ment, it reduces scrap by detecting drifts in the weld process and alert- ing operators before process failure. The MM-400A also reduces the fre- quency of destructive testing and provides an independent way of mon- itoring the welding power supply. The MM-400A includes a simple and intuitive user interface and color

High-Power Wide Terminal Resistors from KOA Speer

Bradford, PA — KOA Speer Electron - ics has added new high-power options to its WK73R and WK73S resistor series. WK73R thick-film, wide termi- nal resistors will now be available as WK73B15 — 0612 (1632 metric), 1.5W, WK73R2H2 — 1020 (2550 met- ric), 2W, and WK73R3A3 — 1225 (3264 metric), 3W. WK73S current sense wide ter-

minal resistors will now be available as WK73S2B15 — 0612 (1632 met- ric), 1.5W, WK73S2H2 — 1020 (2550 metric), 2W, and WK73S3A3 — 1225 (3264 metric), 3W. These wide termi- nal resistors have reverse geometry for improved power rating and shock resistance.

touch panel display. An envelope function allows the operator to set upper and lower segmented or con- tinuous limits around the entire waveform. Its seam welding mode monitors AC current and voltage or DC voltage for up to five minutes. The unit provides ISO 17657-compli- ant measurement for current (when used with available ISO-compliant toroidal coil) and offers Ethernet (TCP/IP), and RS-232/485 communi- cation. Pre-weld displacement meas- ures workpiece thickness prior to

welding. Multi-language support includes English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, German, and French. Available accessories include shunt resistor force sensors, a built- in force sensor, displacement sen- sors, and weld-through sensors that offer simultaneous measurement of

applied force. Contact: Amada Miyachi

AUTOMATION INNOVATION

Thick-film wide terminal resistors.

KOA Speer’s new resistors offer

a wide range of resistance values. The WK73R has a range of 10W to approximately 1 MW, while the WK73S has a range of 10 mW to approximately 9.8W. The resistors are designed to ensure high reliabili- ty with a TCR as low as ±100 ppm°C, resistance tolerances of ±0.5 to 5 per- cent and an operating temperature range of –67 to +311°F (–55 to +155°C). They are also qualified to
