CDE Launches DC Link Capacitor Modules

Liberty, SC — Cornell Dubilier Electronics (CDE) has launched a new series of DC link polypropylene film capacitor modules aimed at high-power inverters. The MDL series offers capacitance values rang- ing from 600 to 4,200 µF, with applied voltages of 900 to 1,300 VDC. Designed as an alter-

native to banks of cylindri- cal bus-mounted capaci- tors, these modules have high energy density and simplify bus connections by reducing the number of terminations. By using a single DC

Link capacitor in a com- pact rectangular package, smal ler inverter topologies are possible. The use of one capaci-

tor, as opposed to several parallel- banked capacitors, typically results in enhanced system reliability with lower assembly costs. The MDL series also exhibits

long life, meeting a 5,000-hour life test at rated voltage, with a core tem- perature of 185°F (85°C). This trans- lates to a life of 200,000 hours when operated at 140°F (60°C) ambient at full rated voltage and ripple current. The MDL series is based on

in four case sizes, is RoHS-compliant, and meets IEC 61071 and UL94V-0. Each unit passes through CDE’s

H2W Releases High-Force Brushless Linear Motor

Santa Clarita, CA — H2W has devel- oped a compact, high-force, brush- less, linear motor (BLSM-1F) that can generate 300 lbf (1,334 N) at a 10 percent duty cycle and 100 lbf (444 N) at a 100 per- cent duty cycle, as well as when used with a match- ing magnet track (BLSTF- SX). The mass of the coil assembly is 19 lb (8.6 kg), which provides a force to moving mass ratio of 15:8. The motor can be

driven using either a trape- zoidal or digital, standard, three-phase, brushless am - plifier. The brushless lin- ear motor coil measures 6.5 x 7.5 x 1.5 in. (16.5 x 19 x 3.8 cm). This brushless linear

motor is designed for appli- cations that require a wide speed range and a relatively high force. This motor is encapsulated using high- temperature, 350°F (177°C) thermal- ly conductive potting compound, which protects the components and seals it from dust and moisture. The three-phase, brushless, lin-

ear motors, also known as an AC lin- ear servo motors, are direct drive motors suitable for long-stroke, closed-loop-servo, linear motion applications. They can be used at speeds up to 20 ft/s (6.1 m/s). They are capable of very precise position, velocity and acceleration control when coupled with a linear encoder for position feedback.

customer-supplied bearing system is required to maintain the 0.06 in. (1.5 mm) air gap between the coil assem- bly and the magnet track. There is a relatively large

attractive force between the motor coil and the magnet assembly. The magnet track consists of rare-earth neodymium magnets and the required overall length is equal to the coil assembly length plus the
