German President Visits Robotation Academy
Elgin, IL — Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany, recently paid a visit to the Robotation Academy in Foshan, China. The HARTING Tech- nology Group is a founding member of the academy, which officially opened in October of 2017. Dr. Ellen McMillan, general
manager of HARTING’s greater Chi- na segment spoke with Steinmeier and his accompanying delegation about the company’s contribution to digitalization in China. “The smart manufacturing sec-
tor has skyrocketed in China, and process digitalization is increasingly important for this. HARTING can provide manufacturing companies with support for the monitoring and visualization of production process- es,” says Dr. McMillan. HARTING has its MICA on dis-

Europlacer Expands Trade-in Initiative
Tampa, FL —Europlacer Americas has rolled out its trade-in scheme to the wider placement equipment market. The extended initiative encourages owners of older pick-and-place plat- forms to obtain a trade-in valuation against a new Europlacer machine. For many, this overcomes issues
around equipment obsolescence, spares shortages and diminishing support capabilities, as well as offer- ing the tangible commercial benefits associated with a new machine. The trade-in initiative has
proven exceptionally successful among Europlacer’s own customer base in the U.S. and beyond. The company is known for its multi-award-winning customer service and still has users with fully-operational placement ma- chines well over 20 years old. As Euro- placer grows its market share world- wide, it wants more manufacturers to enjoy the positive experiences of its latest placement technology and sup- port commitment. “Inevitably, older machines will
begin to suffer from parts shortages and difficulties in accommodating
software and hardware upgrades due to legacy architecture,” explains president of Europlacer Americas, John Perrotta. “Our trade-in deals offer great value and have proven highly successful. Many Europlacer customers were surprised to learn that their old machine was worth more than they thought. Most of them traded in for a new machine.” Now Europlacer is extending its
trade-in initiative to placement equip- ment from any supplier. The reality and objective remain the same: to pro- vide a cost-effective path to a new plat- form and eliminate potential issues that arise when keeping legacy ma- chines operational. “Again, users of other brands of pick-and-place ma- chines will face obsolescence. Before they retire those machines, or if their supplier lets them down, they need to speak to us about an attractive trade-
in deal,” says Perrotta. Contact: Europlacer Americas,

Saki Wins Mexico Technology Award
Fremont, CA — Saki Corporation was recently recognized with a Mexico Technology Award in the category of inspection equipment —SPI for its Saki Self-Programming (SSP) soft- ware (SSP). SSP software pro- grams SPI and AOI equipment with only a few clicks, taking min- utes rather than hours, and with- out a golden board. The award was presented at a ceremony held at the SMTA expo and tech forum held in Guadalajara, Mexico. The award recognizes top
innovations in the electronics manufacturing industry in Mexi- co and celebrates the companies and individuals achieving high standards and driving the indus- try forward. The software is a seamless
system that does not require DFM software. It removes the program- ming discrepancies and variations that arise when machines are pro- grammed by different workers. SSP
is designed to enable quick turnover, high-mix, low-volume production and fast throughput.
