About this prospectus This prospectus tries to answer your questions about life and academic provision on offer at the University of Essex. It was prepared in August 2012 and predominently refers to programmes and courses which will be available in 2013. This prospectus is available in large print, audio and Braille formats.

Fee status classification There are two levels of tuition fee: 'home/European Union (EU)' and 'overseas'. The level of fee you pay depends on whether you meet certain criteria. Some of our courses are only available to students classified as ‘home’ or ‘EU’ for tuition fee purposes. Quality assurance The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) undertook an Institutional Audit of the University in March 2008. This audit declared ‘Confidence’ (the best judgement
