 developing an ability to evaluate critically the effects of cardiac rehabilitation (specifically physical activity) on a variety of at-risk populations and an awareness of the ethical and safety issues that underpin best practice;


 developing analytical skills that are relevant to a critical understanding of issues in cardiac rehabilitation;


 developing a range of transferable skills such as communication, numeracy, IT skills, problem solving, self-evaluation and self-improvement, and autonomous learning, in the context of cardiac rehabilitation;


 enabling you to plan and conduct a research programme in the development and/or application of cardiac rehabilitation; and


 developing an advanced knowledge of exercise science to underpin the professional skills appropriate for a career in cardiac rehabilitation.

How is the course structured? Please see the table above for the full course structure.


How will I be assessed? Two compulsory taught modules and one optional taught module are assessed by means of coursework (weighted 33 per cent) and a three-hour written examination (weighted 67 per cent). The remaining taught modules are assessed by coursework only. Examinations take place in the early Summer term (April or May).
