Sithembiso Tshili (Tembi), MSc Adult Nursing student
“I chose Essex after looking at the structure of the programme; it suited my particular interest in nursing and
research. I also felt that the School had a great atmosphere and environment for learning. The lecturers have been very motivating and supportive throughout my two years here, helping me settle in both academically and socially. The wide variety of placements I have been given have been fantastic, each of my mentors have been encouraging and I have had great exposure to assessment and diagnosis.”
Anita Steinberg, Lecturer and Admissions Tutor, occupational therapy
Anita undertook her BHlthSc (occupational
therapy) in Australia and, since relocating
to the UK in 2004, has also completed her Masters in the area of dementia studies. Prior to joining our School in 2010, Anita worked in a variety of clinical occupational therapy roles, both in the UK and abroad, across both physical and mental health clinical settings, with people of all ages. Anita is our Admissions Tutor and teaches on both our undergraduate and postgraduate occupational therapy courses.
Witness Mapanga, MPH Public Health student
“I chose Essex
because of its strong research performance and reputation for producing excellent graduates. I was also
attracted by the cultural diversity of staff and students. My studies have been fulfilling and captivating, and I was awarded the Dr Eleanor Drake-Lewis Scholarship. The availability of public health resources (including recently published text books, journals and online materials) and the ever-helpful lecturers and personal tutors, makes studying in our School very worthwhile. I am looking forward to undertaking my PhD at Essex.”

previously in the field
