These programmes are aimed at registered health care practitioners who wish to gain a qualification in order to enhance their knowledge, skills and expertise in health and social care and, thereby, also improve their career prospects. These are flexible programmes offered at undergraduate and postgraduate level. This means, with guidance from academic staff, you will construct a personal pathway of study tailored to meet your own personal and professional needs.
In recent years the focus of health care has shifted from secondary care to primary care, the result being that care is delivered closer to service users’ homes. Our innovative programmes focus on preparing staff to deliver health care in a primary care setting, whilst providing the skills necessary to support a smooth primary and secondary care interface.
These were originally informed by Lord Darzi’s report into health care provision, and have been reviewed in line with the NHS Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) Agenda. They have been designed to respond to current needs within health services including the NHS, independent and third sector organisations.
Depending on the pathway you choose, there will be a range of classroom-based learning, e-learning and work-based learning to enhance your practice skills and develop understanding of the theory relevant to your work. For BSc Health Care Practice, there is only one compulsory module entitled Developing Critical Appraisal Skills, and you can then choose from a variety of modules to acquire the academic credits necessary to complete the programme.
Improving Access to Psychological Therapies This programme provides you with the opportunity to engage in the national programme – ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapies’
