As part of this contract they support staff development through educational courses and programmes of study. If you are hoping to receive assistance with funding and are employed in this way, please check with your employer to see if funding is available before accepting a place on the module or programme of study. For further information on modular fees and the application process, please visit our website. www.essex.ac.uk/hhs

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Certified Learning (AP(E)L) All CPD programmes at our School are structured to facilitate flexible engagement and staged development. Our CPD programmes and stand-alone modules may be undertaken in a variable pattern of enrolment over a two to five year period.

In addition to this we also recognise some elements of previous academic learning that you may have completed elsewhere. This is dependent on many factors; however, if you are interested in this option, please discuss this with the administrator of the programme before you apply. It is necessary to highlight any relevant prior learning before you apply as the modules you wish to study may be dependent on this. For further information, please contact us directly.

DClinPsych – Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (training programme)

This programme has been developed through a partnership with NHS Trusts in Essex, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in London and our School. Trainees will be employed by the North Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and will enrol for a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Essex.

This Doctorate aims to train clinical psychologists who can deliver psychological services drawing on a wide range of competencies as critical-reflective-scientist practitioners and who will choose to work in the region. It also aims to provide you with grounding in a range of psychological approaches and a high level of integration when applying these to develop, and provide clinical services that are responsive to the needs of service users and the demands of the modern NHS.

The teaching philosophy underpinning the training programme is the integration of academic, research and clinical practice learning, and your participation in all teaching contexts. To this end, you are being encouraged to be active participants in your training, and to reflect constructively and analytically upon the work in which you are engaged.

Teaching follows a competencies model and the ethos of the programme is an integrative approach to clinical practice. Placements are predominantly located in Essex. This programme is full-time, for a period of three years.

Partners and placements We work closely in partnership with the NHS and the independent health sector. We also work closely with the NHS East of England in the development and delivery of innovative and professionally relevant clinical programmes and modules.
