Kreuzwertheim, Germany — SEHO Systems GmbH is presenting its new SelectLine selective soldering system, which reportedly provides sys- tem features a “plus” in flexibility and efficiency resulting in a remarkable increase in productivity. With its very special design, the SelectLine

product family offers the highest precision and sol- der joint quality as well as a high degree of flexibili- ty; no change over is required to dynamically process a variety of assemblies with short cycle times. The machine’s concept is consistently modu-

lar, thus ensuring clear cost benefits. The fluxer module, various preheat modules and soldering modules may be equipped individually, and depen - ding on the requirements, they can be configured into a complete manufacturing line. Even the smallest version, SelectLine-C, which is designed for standalone operation in the basic configuration, may be expanded with fluxer and preheat modules at any time to be used for inline processes. The soldering has two integrated electromag-

netic soldering units for mini-wave processes. Two new and special patented features ensure a remarkable increase in productivity. Maximum throughput requirements are met

with the Synchro concept. Typically, to increase production volume, additional soldering modules

need to be added, or the machine has to be equipped with a dual conveyor to allow parallel processing of boards. The Synchro concept is an intelligent software feature that coordinates the soldering process for two PCBs in such a way that the total throughput is nearly doubled without the need for significant investment. The assemblies can enter the soldering area independently and are not linked to the same cycle. With the new Synchro concept, cycle times can be reduced by nearly 50 percent. The patented, automatic ultra- sonic cleaning of the solder nozzles represents another highlight in the soldering area. What pre- viously had to be performed manually and with aggressive chemicals, now is carried out automati- cally and in environmentally friendly fashion by the machine itself. With the ultrasonic cleaning unit, the liquid solder is set into oscillation which thereby gently cleans the surface of the nozzle. Using the existing inert atmosphere, the surface is completely re-wetted and the solder nozzle is restored to its original condition. This special feature provides a remarkably longer lifetime of the solder nozzles, along with absolutely stable process and significant time savings. The SelectLine includes a com-

plete hardware and software package for automatic process control. It mon- itors the fluxing process, including the amount of solder actually applied, provides automatic position correc- tion and z-height correction, controls the wave height, and ensures MES integration. Another special feature is the option of integrating an AOI system for solder joint inspection

directly after the soldering process. Contact: Seho North America,
