52 Friday 13.09.13 theibcdaily Presenting d:facto II DPA By Paul Watson

Microphone specialist DPA is showing the latest addition to its range of condensers, the d:facto II, which is said to bring true studio sound to the live stage, offering a very neutral sound. In addition, DPA claims that d:facto II boasts superior gain before feedback as well as extreme SPL handling (up to 160dB). When used with the new DPA handle, the manufacturer says that singers and engineers are presented with the added benefit of a ‘state-of-the-art adapter system’ which allows for seamless integration with many other professional wireless systems. According to DPA, d:facto II provides improved audio

2wcom By Paul Watson

The FMC01 from 2wcom is a new FM/MPX compact codec which the company claims is ground-breaking in terms of its high-quality FM MPC contribution and distribution via IP or E1. An industry first, 2wcom

says, the FMC01 can combine encoder and decoder functions in the same unit, which offers significant infrastructure savings. It incorporates 100% lossless audio encoding/decoding and optimised bandwidth technology which is said to deliver maximum FM quality.

A point-to-multipoint

distribution solution, the company says that FMCO1 redefines the cost/ performance equation for radio networks. According to 2wcom’s managing director, Werner Drews, it’s certainly something to talk about. “It’s such an exciting

product debut, as it’s the first of its kind – a compact FM MPX contribution solution that combines encoder and decoder in the same frame,” he says. “It’s really a big advance on

existing solutions and it's already being deployed by a major broadcaster to completely reshape its distribution architecture.” 8.E78

Codec specialist APT is announcing an upgrade to the AoIP functionality of its codec platform, WorldNet Oslo. V1.2 brings two main benefits to the broadcaster: greater channel density; plus ‘unique’ scripting and control capabilities. The Oslo’s AoIP module combines audio, IP transport, management and auxiliary data onto a single, plug-in module and now supports simplex modes, enabling the AoIP module to operate as either a dual stereo encoder

Q-Mic on show Digigram

By Paul Watson The Q-Mic is a mic preamp designed for smartphones and tablets from Digigram. Housed in a lightweight and ultra-rugged casing, it requires no battery as its extremely low power

consumption (less than 500 µA) comes courtesy of microphone polarisation voltage, promising long recording sessions and uninterrupted on-air interviews. Q-Mic benefits from a balanced XLR microphone input, a stereo-to-mono line input, headphone monitoring

Bidirectional wireless

Neutrik By Paul Watson

Xirium is a new digital wireless audio network which is the result of Neutrik’s vision of a wireless studio-quality transmission system between two connectors.

The product, Neutrik says, boasts a unique reliability and ease-of-handling thanks to the implementation of DIWA (digital wireless audio) technology, which runs within the 5GHz frequency band; Xirium combines digital transmission and receiving lines in one system to deliver the highest possible sound quality.

Thanks to an automatic

frequency management function, the search for free frequencies and channel selection no longer applies: with Xirium, a bi-directional audio network can be built up in which the signal sources and signal receiver can be integrated wirelessly. 8.C90

or dual stereo decoder, in addition to the existing duplex stereo codec mode. With four simplex channels per module, a single Oslo platform can now offer the broadcaster up to 16 or 24 channels of professional quality audio in only 1RU or 3RU of space, making Oslo a cost- effective option for studio and transmitter sites handling multi- channel encode or decode. The module also offers support for Audemat’s ScriptEasy, a tool that enables a broadcast engineer to control not only the behaviour of their APT codec but also other equipment co-located at the codec site. 8.B50
