The LMS-16 is a powerful new multi-channel loudness and true-peak metering system for use with SSL’s digital broadcast consoles or as a standalone product.

In addition, SSL is partnering with Nugen Audio, offering the company’s new ‘MultiMonitor’ software as part of a turnkey system that will provide the software pre-installed and configured on a 1RU PC, fitted

Surround control updates

RTW By Paul Watson

RTW is presenting a firmware update for its flagship SurroundControl 31900 and 31960 series. In addition to supporting all current EBU/ITU loudness regulations, including ITU 1770-3, the new firmware is said to simplify the control of the studio monitoring environment when switching over between various audio formats such as stereo, 3.1, 5.1 or 7.1.

Users can select

independent trim and delay values for both analogue and digital monitoring outputs; this information can then be stored in up to five level/delay trim sets in the audio system menu. When defining the individual input routing for the sub presets, these new level/delay trim sets can be allocated and tapped into as needed. “It’s not uncommon for an audio engineer, especially in the broadcast sector, to be working with multiple audio formats at one time,” said Andreas Tweitmann, RTW’s CEO. “By adding this new feature to our popular SurroundControl series, we are enabling users to easily organise their workflow, while simultaneously keeping up with the demands of working in various formats.” 8.D92

with SSL’s ‘MadiXtreme 128’ audio interface. An optional monitor arm will also be available to facilitate convenient side mounting of a screen on SSL’s C100 HDS or C10 HD consoles. According to Nugen,

MultiMonitor provides the most powerful multichannel loudness and true-peak metering available on the market. It offers 16 individual meters, each capable of mono, stereo or 5.1 formats, and each meter shows a LUFS momentary display

alongside a true-peak display. SSL’s LMS-16 offers this advanced metering in a fully configured and tested turnkey system based on a robust 1RU PC with very low noise fans, a 15-second boot time, and pre- built restore partition. This

amounts to professional loudness metering of 96 channels of audio at 48kHz, says SSL. Audio I/O to the system is provided by SSL’s MadiXtreme 128 audio interface, offering 2x64 channel fibre connections. 8.B73
