Sommer Cable By Will Strauss
Sommer Cable is displaying its DVM120 series of audio tools. The seven different ‘problem
fixers’ are designed for professional live and studio applications and are said to provide perfect sound, thanks to special transformers made by Sweden’s Lundahl. Amongst the products is the DVM-120-HPA variable phones
amp, a multi-purpose dual channel mini mixer with XLR inputs, tone control and level control.
Another highlight is the DVM- 120-PBS headphones beltpack system, a tethered, purely analogue and latency-free
heavy-duty personal monitoring device. Using off-the-shelf microphone cables, this central unit provides up to four beltpacks with audio signal plus supply voltage. Other products include the DVM-120-TDI tube direct box,
the DVM-120-HZDI high- impedance dual direct box, the DVM-120-DDI dual direct box and DVM-120-DLI dual line box. Each product has a solid 3mm extruded profile and is optimally protected against general on-stage or in-studio wear and tear.
All active devices are equipped with an internal power supply, suitable for operating voltages between 90-240V. 9.B31
Star editor goes it alone
Dalet Digital Media Systems
By Michael Burns
The Dalet One Cut realtime multimedia editor, newly available as a standalone module for use on the Dalet 3.5 platform, is being demonstrated at IBC today. Dalet One Cut is a full-
featured editor with all the essential functions: browse, preview, multiple tracks, a trimmer for rough-cut editing, timeline-based editing and segments, as well as a complete toolbar menu for typical edit functions.
The editor was originally developed as part of the new Galaxy platform, but Dalet said it was encouraged by customer feedback to also make Dalet One Cut available on Dalet 3.5. Built on a totally new video engine, Dalet One Cut supports a mix of video and audio formats and any bitrate. Dalet says it is easy to create templates that match the functions needed for specific jobs.
For example, only the necessary tracks and button functions will be shown to an operator whose primary job is performing voiceovers or other simple tasks. More experienced editors can access more or all of the One Cut functionality. 8.B77
