Glensound By Paul Watson

The Recce HD is Glensound’s new HD Voice mobile phone and commentary mixer, which has been designed as a ‘next generation’ solution. The Glensound HD Voice system has now been extended into a portable commentary unit more familiar to users of ‘classic’ ISDN commentary units like the GS-GC5 and GS-

FrameLector makeover adds RF/ISR NOA Audio

Solutions

By Paul Watson NOA’s dual-stream

FrameLector audio and video archive migration solution now features a combination of RF readout and ISR logging capabilities. With its capacity to

correlate RF and ISR data in a dual-stream workflow and with optional multichannel audio support, NOA says FrameLector offers exceptional ingest efficiency and quality control accuracy to broadcasters and archiving institutions.

This is delivered by the fusion of RF and ISR (Interactive Status Report Logging) data, which means a single operator can oversee several FrameLector systems simultaneously, making it easy to operate up to eight parallel ingest processes at the same time.

While ISR is a widely used

protocol, it is less reliable for transcoding from analogue sources, and FrameLector’s RF ReadOut detects variations in quality in much greater detail; when a potential error is flagged either by the RF or ISR features, alerts and detailed data reports are forwarded to the FrameLector software interface for easy checking, says the developer. “FrameLector is the first

archiving ingest system to offer RF logging and scene detection in a dual parallel stream solution,” says Christophe Kummer, NOA’s CEO. 8.D91

GC25. HD Voice is the new service being adopted by mobile phone networks around the world that doubles the quality of a voice call from the old 3.4kHz bandwidth up to 7kHz bandwidth, with an increased lower end response down to 50Hz. In the UK, HD

Voice is available on the Orange, T-Mobile and 3 networks.

The exhibitor says that, because the Recce HD has the standard features of the Glensound HD Voice system, it will work in highly congested areas without problems, as it

connects as a simple voice call (no IP, no data). For HD Voice quality, Recce HD will need to connect back to a compatible Glensound HD Voice studio unit. The Recce HD adds control via a backlit screen, for easier use of the phonebook function, and easier configuration; and

commentators or announcers via three mic/line inputs (each with independent controls) and a common monitoring section for three pairs of headphones. This means the commentators can hear their own mix, the return audio, and a local external connection. 8.E72
