By Carolyn Giardina Emotion Systems’ eFF, which was developed to address loudness compliance within a video file environment, has a newly-launched set of audio tools centred around Dolby E


functionality.


First, eFF supports loudness compliance for media files which contain Dolby E encoded tracks, meaning the system is capable of opening up Dolby E audio tracks, decoding them, measuring and compliance- adjusting them before they are re-encoded back to Dolby E. Additionally, due to customer


feedback and demand, eFF has the ability to encode PCM audio into Dolby E as well as decode Dolby E into PCM audio. The eFF system is capable of opening and compliance adjusting the audio within video files such as MXF, QuickTime, DPP, AIFF and P2.


It also enables eFF loudness compliance to be integrated


into automated workflows using an API and watch folder operation. This means that tasks such as assigning different compliance standards to different files for broadcast to different countries, and the monitoring of file-progress through the system can be automatically handled.

Going with the Flow for shared storage EditShare


By Carolyn Giardina EditShare’s IBC lineup includes version 7 of its Shared Storage, which operates on Linux OS and sports a new EditShare Connect interface. New features include a system status indicator and localisation support.


In Flow 3, a new version of


EditShare’s media asset management system to be released later this year, AirFlow and Flow Automation join the Flow Browse, Flow Logger and Flow Ingest tools. AirFlow is a web browser- based connection to the Flow asset management system. It allows users to access Flow over the Internet for remote browsing, tagging and organising media assets. Flow Automation provides tools for setting up


automated tasks, such as transcoding and moving files. Flow 3 also includes enhancements in video editing and trimming; a customisable user interface; and support for non-video assets such as audio files, still images and documents. Also featured at IBC this year is EditShare Field 2, a portable shared storage system with integrated Flow media asset management. The platform includes file


ingest, project sharing/bin locking, and archiving capabilities in an all-in-one chassis. It’s developed for on-location shoots, ENG trucks and remote offices. With an optional Flow SDI ingest card, users can record up to two channels of HD in industry-standard codecs such as XDCAM-EX35, Avid DNxHD and DVCProHD. Flow’s edit-while-capture capability lets users start editing as they begin


recording.


This can be used for applications including fast turnaround on late-breaking news stories. With an optional lightweight


expansion unit, a single Field 2 configuration can scale to 32 terabytes. And using the integrated EditShare Sync Tool, users can send data from a remote location back to home base over an Internet VPN connection. 7.B26
