The Alaska State Elks Association held its 63rd annual convention May 11–14 in Homer. Among the more than 160 Elks and guests at the convention were State Spon- sor Roger True; PGER Arthur Frost and his wife, Sharon; Washington State Elks Asso- ciation President the Rev. Frank Cowell; and Washington State Elks Association


President-elect Joseph Basil.


The Alaska Elks elected Roland Reiswig, of the Palmer Lodge, as their 2011–2012 state president. Other state officers installed were President-elect Mark Daum, Sitka; Vice President Janet Johnson, Kodiak; Secy. Paul Whitney, Soldotna; and Trustees Joel Hembach, Eagle River; Jon Shennett, Sitka; and Konrad Jackson, Kenai. The convention featured a Barbecue Cook-Off between the Homer and Sitka Lodges. The event was won by the Homer Lodge.


The Alaska State Elks Association will hold its next annual convention May 3–6, 2012, in Palmer.


The California-Hawaii Elks Association held its 96th annual convention May 18–21 in Fresno. Among the nearly 1,600 Elks and guests were GER Michael F. Smith and his wife, Sandra; State Sponsor Louis Grillo and his wife, Lucia; State Sponsor Kenneth Moore and his wife, Rosemary; Grand Est. Loyal Knight Timothy Martin and his wife, Lazel; Grand Esquire Leroy Lewis and his wife, Loretta; Grand Trustee Anthony Mauro and his wife, Carol; Justice of the Grand Forum Thomas Brazier and his wife, Venita; Grand Lodge Americanism Committee Chairman Sim Nathan and his wife, Marian; Grand Lodge Judiciary Com- mitteeman Robert Duitsman and his wife, Beth; Grand Lodge Public Relations Committeeman Gerald Grimes and his wife, Linda; Grand Lodge Lodge Activities/State Asso- ciations Committeeman Richard McDonald and his wife, Claudette; Grand Lodge Auditing and Accounting Commit- teeman Lawrence Nelson and his wife, Pamela; and Region 7 Hoop Shoot Director Larry Torres. SP Wayne Howard


The California-Hawaii Elks elected Wayne Howard, of the San Clemente Lodge, as their 2011–2012 state presi- dent. Other state officers installed at the convention were First Vice President Arthur Echternacht, Santa Ana; Secy.

The Iowa Elks Association held its an- nual spring convention April 29–30 in Des Moines. Among the nearly 410 Elks and guests in attendance were State Sponsor Ted Callicott and his wife, Betsy. The Iowa Elks elected David Neeley, of the Creston Lodge, as their 2011–2012 state president. Other officers installed at


the


convention were President-elect Larry Manning, Grinnell; Northwest District Vice President Kenneth Lillie, Sioux City; Northeast District Vice President Melanie Wilson, Newton; Southeast District Vice President Jeff Koontz, Fairfield; Southwest District Vice President Steve Hick, Perry; Secy. David Starkweather, Muscatine; Treas. Jerry Long, Iowa Falls; and Trustees Verne Jarvela, Grinnell, and M. Neil Crossland, Fairfield. During the convention, the Creston Lodge was named Lodge of the Year for the second straight year, while Joe Hunt of the Marshalltown Lodge was named Elk of the Year. The Iowa Elks Association will hold its next spring convention April 27–28, 2012, in Des Moines.

The Louisiana Elks Association held its 75th annual convention April 15–17 in New Orleans. Among the 160 Elks and guests in attendance were State Sponsor Charles Wil- liams; SD Richard Conran and his wife, Sue; Arkansas State Elks Association SP- elect John Chelstrom and his wife, Shirley; and Texas Elks State Association SP-elect
