raised more than $4,300 for the American Cancer Society. In other news, the lodge donated $2,000 to the local Meals on Wheels organization, which delivers meals to people who cannot leave their homes. Of these funds, $500 came from a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant.
Myrtle Creek, OR, Lodge held its annual Scholarship Golf Tournament and raised $4,000 for the lodge Scholarship Program.
In other news, a lodge member, with the help of two scouts from Boy Scout Troop No. 127, cut the grass on a hillside owned by an elderly woman. Lodge members treated the two scouts to lunch after the work was done.
Bellefonte, PA, Lodge members awarded eight $500 David B. Garver Memorial Scholarships to Bellefonte Area High School students, a $750 Garver Scholarship to a Penns Valley Area High School Student, and a $750 Garver Scholarship to a Bald Eagle High School student. The lodge PER Committee also awarded a $500 Community Service Scholarship and a $250 Outstanding Leadership Skills Scholarship to Bellefonte Area High School students. In other news, the lodge held its annual Student of the Year Banquet, honored 15 Students of the Month from Bellefonte Area High School and Bald Eagle High School, named Shane Besong as Bald Eagle High School Student of the Year and Jacob Stem as Bellefonte Area High School Student of the Year, and gave each of the Students of the Year $100. Besong also received the lodge’s Academic Achievement Award during a later ceremony at his school. The lodge also treated 63 students, parents, and school officials to dinner.
In more news, lodge members attended a Gold Award Ceremony for Brittany Etters, of Girl Scout Troop No. 20, and presented her with a US flag and a framed certificate. For her Gold Award Project, Etters organized and led a community project that created a memorial honoring all of the more than 200 veterans from the Howard area. The lodge also, with the help of an American Legion post, performed a Flag-Retirement Ceremony and honorably disposed of seven worn and damaged US flags.
In more news, the lodge donated $100 to support the Canyonville Free Fish Day community event.
Roseburg, OR, Lodge held a Flag- Retirement Ceremony, formally retired 21 worn and damaged US flags, and then arranged for them to be disposed of at a local crematorium.
Silverton, OR, Lodge used its $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant to donate $500 to Silverton Area Community Aid, which provides food aid to needy families, and $500 to the First Chris- tian Church of Silverton to support the church’s free, weekly Wednesday Night Community Dinner.
Tillamook, OR, Lodge members treated seven US Coast Guard personnel and five family members to an Armed Forces Day Lunch, which featured musical entertainment and a horseshoe tournament.
In other news, the lodge, with the
help of scouts from lodge-sponsored Boy Scout Troop No. 582, held a Flag- Retirement Ceremony and honorably disposed of 26 worn and damaged US flags. Lodge members also distributed Honor Our Flag placards to 45 local businesses for them to display.
