Hutchinson, MN, Lodge members entered the state association’s drug awareness trailer in the Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival Grande Day Parade and distributed drug aware- ness bags containing pamphlets and candy to 600 spectators.
Ellisville, MO, Lodge members staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the lodge’s annual Youth Day and distributed drug awareness materials to the 150 parents and children who attended.
u BLUFFTON, IN, Lodge members presented a plaque to Bluffton Police Officer Bruce Holland, who is the head of the Bluffton Police Department’s DARE Program, and recognized him as a national runner-up for the Enrique Camarena Award, which recognizes law enforcement officers for outstanding work in combating drug abuse. At the same event, the lodge, with the help of part of a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant and a grant from the Elks National Drug Awareness Program, donated 30 drug awareness basketballs and $300 worth of arts and crafts supplies to each of the City of Bluffton’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry– Bluffton. Mexico, MO, Lodge members honored eight fifth graders and four eighth graders as the winners of their Drug Awareness Essay Contest in ceremo- nies at the winners’ schools. Lodge members gave each of the winners a certificate and a savings bond, worth $100 for the eighth graders and $50 for the fifth graders, and later treated the students and their parents to a meal at the lodge.
Clark Fork Valley, MT, Lodge mem- bers staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the Troy Kids’ Fishing Day, treated about 150 children and parents to lunch, and distributed drug awareness coloring books, bracelets, and pamphlets to the children at the event.
Nashua, NH, Lodge members distrib- uted drug awareness information to more than 125 scouts, parents, and scouting officials who attended the annual Arrow of Light Cub Scout Recognition Dinner, held at the lodge, for scouts from the Arrowhead District of the Daniel Webster Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
u AUBURN/WEBSTER, MA, Lodge members, with the help of Elroy the Elk, staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the lodge’s weekly Friday Night Cruisin’ community party and distributed goody bags, each of which contained a drug awareness coloring book, comic book, water bottle, bookmark, ruler, and miniature basketball, to about 75 children and adults.
