Lake Ray Roberts Area, TX, Lodge members inaugurated their new lodge building in a ceremony attended by


Lubbock, TX, Lodge members honored Stephanie Thompson and Amy Peck as their Citizens of the Year for their work as Child Life Specialists at Covenant Children’s Hospital. The two women’s work involves helping children being treated at the hospital to keep their spirits up.


In other news, the lodge held a Firefighters Dinner and Fun Day and treated about 160 volunteer fire- fighters and family members to a meal and swimming at the lodge. The lodge raised $2,500 at the event and donated the funds to the Lubbock Area Foundation to be distributed to the area’s 15 volunteer firefighting organizations.


Sherman, TX, Lodge members pre- sented a plaque to a third-grade student in a ceremony in his class- room to thank him for leading a project collecting aluminum pull tabs to support the state major project, Texas Elks Children’s Services. Lodge members also presented his teacher, Brandon Jacobs, with a plaque to thank the class for its assistance. In other news, lodge members invited members of a family that had lost their home in a fire to the lodge’s garage sale and gave them any items from the sale that they could use. In more news, the lodge, with the help of scouts from Boy Scout Troop


Nos. 17 and 23, held a Flag-Retire- ment Ceremony and properly disposed of about 30 worn and damaged US flags. The lodge donated the stars from the retired flags to be made into pocket souvenirs for veterans and active-duty troops. The lodge treated the approximately 200 people who attended the ceremony to lunch.


St. Albans, VT, Lodge members honored Vermont Army National Guard CPT Steven Gagner, Vermont Army National Guard 1SG Tina Churchill, Vermont Army National Guard SSG Matthew Kehaya, and Vermont Army National Guard SGT Kregg Kittell during a patriotic ceremony at the lodge and thanked them for their service.


Springfield, VT, Lodge members honored new Eagle Scout John Kendall, of Boy Scout Troop No. 252, and presented him with a US flag and a certificate during a ceremony at the lodge. For his Eagle Scout Project, Kendall refurbished a concession stand used by the Springfield High School Booster Club. The project involved trimming tree branches and repainting and reroofing the structure.


Harrisonburg, VA, Lodge used a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant to donate $500 to the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County and $500 to Camp Shenan- doah, which is the summer camp of


Vernal, UT, Lodge held a Flag-Retirement Ceremony and retired 63 US flags. Rather than hold the retirement at the lodge, they arranged for a local mortuary to incinerate the flags.
