Hilton Head Island, SC, Lodge members distributed nearly 1,000 drug awareness pamphlets to visitors to the drug awareness trailer at the 33rd annual Bluffton Village Festival.


Athens, TN, Lodge members honored Niota Elementary School student Laramie Dingess for winning the lodge’s Drug Awareness Essay Contest, awarded him a certificate and a $50 savings bond, and presented him with another certificate and a $100 savings bond from the Tennessee Elks Association for winning the state essay contest.


u BURLINGTON, VT, Lodge members, accompanied by Elroy the Elk, staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the North Burlington Little League Family Day and distributed more than 200 bags containing drug awareness materials to children and parents attending the event. In other news, lodge members staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at the 30th annual Starr Mountain Street Rods and Customs Car Show and distributed drug awareness packets to 50 children and adults.


Oak Ridge, TN, Lodge members, along with members of Anderson County Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention, honored Briceville Elementary School third grader Isaiah Hale in a cer- emony at his school for winning the Tennessee Elks Association’s Drug Awareness Poster Contest.


Beaumont, TX, Lodge members staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at a Teenapalooza youth concert, which more than 150 young people attended.


Bedford, VA, Lodge donated 500 drug awareness coloring books and book- marks to Cub Scout Pack No. 417 to be distributed during the pack’s Scout Recruitment Day and Food Drive.


Martinsville, VA, Lodge donated $100 to each of four local high schools to support the schools’ alcohol- and drug- free After Prom Parties.


u SPRINGFIELD, VT, Lodge members honored Eva Harris and awarded her a bicycle and a helmet for winning their Drug Awareness Poster Contest. Woodbridge, VA, Lodge members distributed 200 packets of drug awareness information to spectators at Dale City’s Fourth of July Parade. Lodge members also staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer during the parade and gave packets of drug awareness information to 50 people who visited the trailer. ■
