Southeast District, CA, lodge mem- bers attended a Dinner fund-raiser, which featured raffles and games, at the Moreno Valley, CA, Lodge. The event raised more than $2,000 for the state major project, which provides in- home therapy at no charge to children with special needs.


Quincy, CA, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Jonathon Robbinette, of lodge-sponsored Boy Scout Troop No. 151, and presented him with a framed certificate and a US flag. For his Eagle Scout Project, Robbinette built a flagpole at the entrance to the Plumas–Sierra County Fairgrounds. Pictured with Eagle Scout Robbinette is Est. Lead. Knight William Lamar.


Ceremony and Joint Brigade Review of the San Diego Unified School District’s Junior ROTC programs and awarded the trophy for the Best Drilled Battalion/Company/Group to the James Madison High School Junior ROTC.


Santa Ana, CA, Lodge held its 30th annual Wally Dietrich Scholarship Awards Ceremony and honored 150 boys and girls from 15 intermediate schools (sixth through eighth grade) in the Santa Ana and Tustin Unified School Districts as their school’s athletic MVPs. Lodge members also presented each of the MVPs with a plaque and presented $250 Wally Dietrich Scholarships to students Amber Freeman of Mater Dei High School and Colin Weiman of Foothill High School.


Santa Barbara, CA, Lodge members honored US Army SSG Ronald Zulueta in a ceremony at the lodge in which he received his Purple Heart medal from a US congressman.


Simi Valley, CA, Lodge members staffed a bingo fund-raising booth at the Simi Valley Street Fair and raised $200 for the state major project, which

Santa Monica, CA, Lodge members honored US Air Force Amn Jordan Rincon in a ceremony at the lodge and presented her with a US flag in recognition of her graduation from the Air Force Services Academy in Fort Lee, VA. In other news, lodge members attended the Santa Monica Police and Fire Memorial Ceremony and paid tribute to public servants who had given their lives in the line of duty. In more news, lodge members, with the help of scouts from Boy Scout Troop No. 1 and Girl Scout Troop No. 4535, placed a US flag and an Elks flag on the grave of each of 500 Elks in Woodlawn Cemetery.

In other news, lodge members honored local citizen Larry Lukunich and presented him with a certificate acknowledging that he had correctly flown the US flag on his property.


Temecula Valley, CA, Lodge members honored the memory of US Army SPC Ronnie J. Pallares and publicly recognized his family during a ceremony at the lodge. Specialist Pallares, whose family received the Elks Medal of Valor from the Hemet, CA, Lodge, was assigned to the 27th Engineer Battalion when he died in Afghanistan on October 23, 2010. In other news, lodge members honored volunteer Mickey Lifshin in a ceremony at the lodge, treated her and her husband to dinner, and presented her with a plaque to recognize her for creating about ten handmade lap blankets and robes for hospitalized veterans each month.


Thousand Oaks, CA, Lodge donated about 500 hot dogs for participants in a Brownie Olympics competition held at California Lutheran University. Lodge members also cooked the food for participants.
