Lodge members also awarded $500 scholarships to Tawas Area High School students Molly Stoll and Colin Verlac and $250 scholar- ships to Tawas Area High School student Joseph Boensch and Au Gres High School student Elizabeth Pauly. Additionally, lodge members pre- sented $1,000 Michigan Elks Associa- tion scholarships to students Cole and Pauly and presented $2,000 Michigan Elks Association Gold Key Scholar- ships, which are for students with special needs, to four other students.


Greenville, MS, Lodge held a Dinner fund- raiser, which about 120 people attended, and raised nearly $3,000 to assist lodge member John Harmon, who was recovering from surgery to remove a brain tumor. The lodge also donated building materials, and lodge members volunteered their labor to build a wheelchair ramp to make Harmon’s house accessible by wheelchair. Pontiac-Waterford, MI, Lodge held its second annual Marine Recruit Night and treated 300 US Marine Corps recruits and their families to dinner at the lodge.


Sturgis, MI, Lodge held an Outdoor Concert fund-raiser, which 200 people attended, and raised $1,300 for the Elks National Foundation.

Faribault, MN, Lodge members attended the Faribault High School Senior Awards–Scholarships Night and honored their 14 Students of the Month from the school. Lodge mem- bers also presented a $4,000 ENF Legacy Award, which is awarded to the child or grandchild of an Elks member, to senior Chelsea Borwege. In other news, lodge members and Antlers Program members distributed candy and small US flags to more than 250 young spectators at a Memorial Day parade and gave 25 larger flags to veterans along the parade route.


Hutchinson, MN, Lodge used part of a $1,000 ENF Gratitude Grant to donate $400 to the Adult Training and Habilitation Center, which provides job training and placement to people with developmental disabilities.


Winona, MN, Lodge members awarded scholarships worth a total of $3,000 to


La Crosse Central High School students Luke Everson, Lisa Marsh, and Calvin Thornton, Holmen High School student Bennett Johnson, Cochrane Fountain City High School student Michele Pehler, and Winona Senior High School student Allison Wildenborg in a ceremony at the lodge. In addition, lodge members presented a four-year, $4,000 ENF Most Valuable Student scholarship to Wildenborg.


Crestwood, MO, Lodge held a Dinner fund-raiser and raised more than $1,000 for Susan B. Komen for the Cure, which supports breast cancer research and education. In other news, lodge members treated about 30 members of the US Army’s 10th Psychological Operations Battalion to dinner at the lodge to celebrate the initiation of the unit’s commanding officer, COL Wayne Tasler, as a member of the lodge.


Grandview-Hickman Mills, MO, Lodge, with the help of Young Marines from the lodge-sponsored Midwest Detachment, held a Flag-Retirement Ceremony and honorably disposed of the lodge’s worn US flag.


Jefferson City, MO, Lodge spent more than $200 to ship 30 boxes containing nearly $800 worth of food, drinks, and toiletries to members of C Battery, 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery Regi- ment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Afghanistan.
