Learning Support Services
For new students entering first year, UCD provides dedicated resources to support learning and development.
IT Services Internet, email, wireless and remote access – having such resources is essential at UCD as it will help you to study, socialise and participate in classes. Te following are just some of the services we provide: A Mobility is a key driver behind a lot of our services. Whether you are at University at home or travelling abroad, a wide range of services can be accessed via the internet through UCD Connect: such as 7GB email plus a calendar powered by Google (that can be synced to your smart phone) as well as access to your files and Library resources. You can also view your programme schedule, exam results, registration details and get past exam papers. In addition, you can access online classes and learning resources including virtual classes, wikis and blogs using Blackboard, the University’s e-learning system. You can also down- load Blackboard Mobile Learn, a free smart phone app.
A Connect Files is a web storage facility in UCD Connect and is a good place to keep a copy of your documents. You have 2GB of space and you access it from anywhere via UCD Connect.

KEY FAC T You can download a free UCD app called ‘UCD Mobile’ from your smart phone’s App store.
A Software-for-U is a service that provides you with access to a selection of the most popular academic application software for laptops and home computers, such as Photoshop and SPSS. You can access it through the Home tab in UCD Connect.
A Our printing facility allows you to print at one location and collect your document from another location on campus, within two hours.
A Study, socialising, working on assignments and checking emails is made easier at UCD since it is a wireless-enabled campus. Wireless hotspots are in all residences and buildings, so you can access the University network without the need to plug in.
A Tere are four IT Centres on campus, where you can drop in and get help and advice on a range of IT services – anything from email to connecting you to the UCD network. Laptop areas have been included in all IT Centres and in ad hoc locations on campus, where you can connect to the University network via wired or wireless access.

IT Access for all, any time
A Tere are almost 1,000 computers available to you in open–access laboratories and Stand Up And Surf areas throughout the University. Designed without seating, these facilities provide quick access to the internet, ensuring that students and staff can use them on the run. Tey are also Skype enabled.
A You can check PC availability for all these areas online or at display screens in IT Centres before deciding which one to use.
Using UCD Connect and the internet could not be easier as we offer IT induction courses to get you up and running. All students who attend will receive a free 4GB disk key!
