Why is this course for me? Physiology is an area of Biology, and physiolo- gists are interested in how the cells and organs of the body operate and how their incredible array of processes co-operate to enable our bod- ies to function under normal and challenging circumstances. Physiologists are therefore at the forefront of medical research and the search for a better understanding of disease processes. At UCD, Physiology students acquire a thorough understanding of the components of the body and how it senses and responds to the internal and external environments.
What will I study? Tis is a sample pathway for a degree in Physio- logy. Topics include neurophysiology, metabolic biochemistry, membrane biology, respiratory physiology and cardiovascular physiology.

I would recommend Physiology to anyone with an interest in the human body. Physiology is the study of the human body and how it works. After you graduate, there are loads of options available like graduate Medicine or Physiotherapy, or
going into a specific area of research, as it gives you a very strong understanding of how the body operates. UCD Science is a great place to study, and a fantastic place to meet new people. Te Peer Mentor programme really helps in first year, and the relationship between people in different years makes it really easy to settle in. Te Science course is so diverse – there’s literally something for everyone.
