NEW RECORDER RANGE FLOATS IN Zoom Europe BY KEVIN EMMOTT
Among a trio of new products, Zoom’s MicTrak recorder series takes centre stage at IBC. The M2, M3 and M4 MicTrak series combine a stereo mic with a 32-bit fl oat recorder for clip-free audio recording, allowing users to capture perfect audio in any situation without the need to set gain. The M2 is designed like a handheld microphone with a new X/Y mic capsule design. Offering
mono and stereo recording modes for musical performances and interviews, its shock-mounted X/Y stereo mics reduce handling noise. Its LCD display allows real-time waveform monitoring, while a normalise function saves time and streamlines the editing process. The M3 is the fi rst shotgun microphone with 32-bit fl oat recording. This on-camera MS-stereo microphone enables users to switch between mono and stereo modes with 90° or 120° recording angles. The M3 always saves a mid-side RAW fi le, to allow

MATCHBOX GETS IN SYNC WITH IP AND THE CLOUD Hitomi Broadcast BY DAVID FOX
New cloud-based lip-sync measurement capabilities are on show from Hitomi, with a live demo of the new fi le-based variant of MatchBox, which now also supports SMPTE ST2110 – a key customer request. The processing boards for ST2110 are the same as for SDI, but it now connects via Ethernet (10G or 25G). The new setup is intended for users working in a mixed environment (SDI and IP), or transitioning between them,
and educational content, and artists have tested Mediaverse as part of the development. Use-cases can be found on the Mediaverse website. 7.P22
anything from 100 to 1000 nodes, but didn’t want to have to buy 1000 MatchBoxes. However, making a software version of MatchBox has been a challenge, particularly getting the timing tied down without hardware. The system is being designed to cope with live streaming and different fi le formats, such as H.265 and SRT.
On fi le: MatchBox Analyser’s latest capabilities are on show
as it can then be used to tell if timing has changed between the signal paths.

Hitomi is also showing MatchBox Glass, a free-to- download iPhone app, which can help streamline the process of setting up each feed, based on objective data and eliminating guesswork. 10.A42
