ACHIEVING INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION THROUGH COLLABORATION
Peter James, Vice President Global Sales, Pro Audio, Shure There must be a secure industry
Driven by constant innovation, we are living in an exciting era for the entertainment and broadcast industry. While this innovation has transformed how we approach audio production, it has also posed several new challenges that continue to have significant implications for wireless systems users and audio professionals. For example, the desire for increased global connectivity has immensely impacted demand for UHF spectrum, making perpetual congestion the new norm. In the audio sphere, the demand for digital wireless systems has increased exponentially in recent years, while the available space in which they operate has been greatly reduced. With 5G (and beyond) in play, it will be even less in years to come.
While 5G takes connectivity to a whole new level, allowing networks and systems to work faster and more efficiently, it raises concerns about how multiple cloud services could co-exist in a limited spectrum while continuing to provide the level of quality expected from them.
transformation and solid infrastructure, with strong regulations that protect the available space and ensure innovation. This cannot be achieved without the collaboration of manufacturers that work with regulators, organisations and institutions to guarantee the right legal and normative frame.

As a leading audio manufacturer, Shure continues to research and innovate based on what customers and the market demand. Technology that helps plan, co-ordinate and monitor frequencies – as well as analyse data for maximising the performance – is one of the major drivers that help overcome the current challenges.
In this digital world, technology has to be strongly supported by software, like
FLEX LICENCE MODEL AND V10.8 FOR MC2 Lawo
BY KEVIN EMMOTT
Unveiled at IBC2023 and covering licensed functionality for hardware and software products, Lawo’s new Flex model combines perpetual licences with temporary subscriptions.
Described as an “ideal fit into operators’ usage strategy”, any permanent/subscription combination – including a purely subscription-driven usage model – is supported.
Jamie Dunn, CCO, Lawo, said: “The good news about Lawo Flex is that customers who prefer to ‘own’ their processing infrastructure can still do so. To alleviate the financial burden in these volatile times, however, Lawo also offers the possibility to combine permanent licensing of bread-and-butter processing resources with temporary subscriptions for peak- time usage. This inherently provides sophisticated resource pooling on a virtual software level.”
Shure Wireless Workbench 7 or Wavetool, that ensures efficiency and reliability, without forgetting ease of use for audio professionals. Shure continues investing in new software features like the scan library, allowing audio professionals to plan frequencies ahead of stressful and demanding events. For Shure, participating at IBC2023 is essential to connect with customers, partners and friends. We bring our latest innovations like the Axient Digital AD600 spectrum manager, used in some of the most complex events in the world, including Eurovision, Super Bowl and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Tokyo, Beijing, Sochi and London Olympics. IBC is the best platform for engaging with all broadcast and entertainment technology industry members. Here we share knowledge, exchange experiences and discuss the latest market trends, as we firmly believe that only through collaboration can we all push the industry forward. 8.C68
AND A__UHD CORE DEBUT
Meanwhile, V10.8 for Lawo’s mc² and A__UHD Core platform provides flexible bus routing, an increased AUX count (up to 256 busses), a QSC Q-Sys proxy in Home, remote show control using OSC, CRM processing channels, a VCA Map pane with a graphical VCA routing and contribution matrix, a revamped Trim Set
approach, and a console lock feature.
In addition, the Power Core will soon appear as a proxy in Home 1.8, with support for all four MADI front ports and dynamic support of a generic 64-channel card that automatically detects Dante and/ or MADI SRC cards. 8.B90
