26 MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT
Sustainability is a recurring theme throughout the content programme at IBC this year, with organisations sharing their experiences of making positive change and the busines impact of going green in multiple sessions throughout the show. Tomorrow on Content Everywhere Stage 1, panellists Frank Miller, CTO, Varnish Software; Mark Donnigan, Head of Market Development, NETINT; and Johan Bolin, Chief Business Offi cer – Media & Broadcast, Agile Content, will be ‘Tackling Streaming’s Sustainability Crisis.’ As the explosion of video
streaming takes a major toll on the planet, especially as more immersive digital experiences, data-heavy content and next-gen use cases emerge, this session will explore how broadcasters, video service providers and CSPs address streaming’s sustainability crisis while continuing to deliver new and exciting experiences. Later that day, the IEE BTS hosts three-hours of debate and discussion in ‘Unlocking Sustainability: Innovating a
greener future in broadcast and media’ in Room E102. Starting at 14:00, attendees will learn how technologies and innovative practices are reshaping the landscape, reducing carbon footprints and championing eco-consciousness. Industry research and case studies will be presented by media organisations that have embraced sustainability, from adopting energy-effi cient equipment and implementing sustainable production techniques, to delivering on effi cient content distribution methods. Manuel Belmar, CFO, GCP Globo, and Larissa Görner, Chief Technology Offi cer, Proximus Media House, are among those sharing their experiences.
On Monday attendees have the opportunity to join a conversation that goes beyond climate change and addresses the growing concern of climate anxiety. Part of the Changemaker Programme in the Forum, ‘Sustainability – Uncle Albert and the new kids on the block ’ will hear from

those already making an impact and putting sustainability at the heart of their productions. Katy Bolan, Sustainability Lead, Google TV; April Sotomayer, Head of Industry Sustainability, albert; and Roser Canela, Senior Sustainable Production Manager, International, ITV Studios, will be sharing their experiences. Sustainability is also a feature of this year’s Partner Programme, with the SCTE’s session ‘Tackling the Telco Net Zero Challenge’.
During this four-hour seminar, which begins at 12:00 in Room E102 on Monday, attendees will hear three highly technical presentations about the challenges telecoms providers and telco consumers face in reducing energy usage and how we can contribute to the energy transition.

Premiere case with Sony & Plateau Virtuel, Fabien Pisano, Head of Sales at Sony Imaging products & Solutions, and Bruno Corsini, Co-founder at Plateau Virtuel, will share with attendees how a state- of-the-art 90sqm Sony Crystal LED display combined with Venice camera capture technology are being used to create near-natural backgrounds for premium fi lm, commercial and TV productions in studios near Paris.
panel hosted by Mandy Rutledge, Director, WW Media Partnerships at Microsoft, bringing together industry leaders from Avid, MediaKind, Harmonic and Evertz. They will share their insights and visions for the future of media technology, leveraging their partnership with Microsoft, and how they are maximising Azure, Edge and AI.
