68 SCALABLE SOFTWARE SOLUTION
AVT Audio Video Technologies BY KEVIN EMMOTT
After last year’s debut of Magic Collaboration Services at IBC, AVT has extended its software
technology with scalable studio connectivity solutions. With the latest release of the Magic Server, the Magic telephone hybrids (which enable the broadcast airing of telephone callers) and audio codecs are now available as a centralised, scalable software solution. The integration supports all functionalities of the hardware system and integrates Magic Collaboration Services for MS Teams and WebRTC connectivity which were introduced at IBC2022. Lukas Mahler, Junior Marketing and Sales Manager, AVT, said: “We wanted to give customers the option to choose between
WETGATE UPGRADE FOR POLAR HQ SCANNER Digital Film Technology
BY KEVIN EMMOTT
It’s a kind of Magic: AVT’s collaboration services are being extended
traditional hardware systems and scalable software solutions without compromising quality or functionality. The new software- based approach is freely scalable. If a customer has hardware systems on premise already, they can be integrated into the pool of available lines.”
The new option for Magic THipPro telephone hybrid will gradually integrate all AVT system features. Aside from the Collaboration Server, just a regular server or VM is required, making it a practical solution for making use of existing hardware. 8.F76
Designed to restore historical fi lms to their original glory, DFT’s WetGate technology is making its debut in the DFT Polar HQ native 8K fi lm scanner at IBC. A new development for this scanner, WetGate compensates for artefacts such as scratches, dirt and other defects during the scanning stage, right at the beginning of the restoration process. Custom-designed for archive and fi lm restoration specialists, it reproduces the content as it was originally seen on the fi lm without any changes and without any additional pixels
created by interpolation or software algorithms. In addition, because a WetGate scan does not require any subsequent work steps, time savings can be achieved due to the absence of rendering times, manual corrections or visual QC. WetGate technology is used by a number of archives and service providers around the world to implement bulk digitisation of fi lm stocks. 7.C24
