SUSTAINABLE WAYS TO STREAM Viaccess-Orca
BY ADRIAN PENNINGTON
A key trend exhibited by dozens of companies here at IBC is a greater commitment to sustainability. In the case of Viaccess-Orca, that means greener ways to stream video. As a member of the NESTED (New vidEo STandards for Enhanced Delivery) project, the company is demonstrating a new green dashboard for video streaming. Additionally, its VO Player is being shown embedded with a new live peer-to-peer stack, which reduces the energy required of CDN consumption. According to
Viaccess-Orca, its end-to-end technology solutions can streamline operations for service providers
and minimise their carbon footprint, while helping viewers fi nd desired content and enjoy personalised viewing experiences. Viaccess-Orca is also highlighting a range of monetisation solutions, including its Targeted TV Advertising and multiscreen TV apps with unifi ed backend. Innovative security tools for
protecting premium content and revenues against recently developing threats such as CDN leeching are also demoed. As part of this, VO’s Anti-Piracy Center is presented as a fully customisable set of cybersecurity services for the video content industry. 1.A51

VB440 INCREASES INSIGHT Bridge Technologies BY ADRIAN PENNINGTON
The VB440 production probe has had its visual interface upgraded to provide new ways for network engineers to understand the performance of their IP and SDI-encapsulated production environments, both in-the-moment and on a long- term strategic basis. The probe has historically visualised network performance data – including deep packet analytics, signal integrity, redundancy relationships and PTP clock sync – through a series of fl ow diagrams, waterfl ow charts and continuous graphs. This is now augmented with a range of dynamically changing readable values, offering a defi ned numerical value to the status of

This gives network engineers more fl exibility in the way they read and understand data and signalling when values are operating outside of tolerated parameters for at-a-glance error identifi cation. This is complemented further by Dynamic Explanatory Hovercards, which help make data comprehensible to non- technicians. Bridge says the additions make the VB440 able to replace dozens of rack-spaces of equipment in a studio or OB van. 1.A71
