PUSH-ME PULL-YOU CONNECTS WITH 12G-SDI UHD Lemo Connectors BY DAVID FOX

The S Series of push-pull connectors has been expanded with the new 1S.275 series for 12G-SDI 4K/UHD transmission. Developed by Lemo’s Swiss R&D team, it is the fi rst-ever push-pull 12G-SDI, with its self-latching nature providing better security. The robust connectors are compliant with the SMPTE ST2082-1 standard for signal/ data transmission. They enable a transmission rate of 12Gbps on a single-link cable to meet the 12G-SDI transmission standard

– eight times the bandwidth of a standard HD-SDI link. The connector’s ‘chocolate bar’ knurled shape makes it easier to grip and handle; it uses a more compact design to save space and is built to survive at least 1000 mating cycles.

The connectors have been developed not only for broadcasting, but also in response to demand from other market segments, like medical imaging platforms such as endoscopy and laparoscopy, all of which also need high transmission rates, lighter structure and low latency. 12.D42

MORE SCOPE FOR MIXAIR 3.0 IN LIVE SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT Salsa Sound BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Boasting a raft of new features aimed at the live sports and entertainment sectors, the third major release of Salsa Sound’s AI-driven MIXaiR automated mixing platform is making its debut at IBC. With new automated mixing applications for ice hockey, basketball and horseracing, MIXaiR 3.0 now supports the full Dolby ecosystem, including Atmos authoring and encoding/ decoding DD+Atmos, ED2 and Dolby E formats.

output over multiple protocols to create a fl exible system to connect applications together across NDI, SRT, MADI, ASIO and Dante.

MIXaiR 3.0 now includes an automated mixing application for ice hockey

MIXaiR also continues its development in MPEG-H authoring, updating its user interface and adding a more expansive suite of tools which support formats such up to 22.2

for easy-to-produce personalised and immersive content. Other MIXaiR enhancements include an overhaul of the audio input and output systems, which now allow for audio input and

Meanwhile, native SRT and NDI support makes cloud deployment easier and enables MIXaiR to be integrated into almost any production system, bringing in feeds from multiple places and outputting them to multiple target devices/protocols. Finally, MIXaiR 3.0 introduces a new speech overlay submix which can be used for audio description or managing audio translation services. 8.B77d

PITCH-PERFECT CONNECTORS AND ADAPTERS MAKE CONNECTIONS SING Songtech BY DAVID FOX

First-time exhibitor Songtech offers a wide range of connectors, and also develops and manufactures devices and PC board assemblies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The Taiwan-based company’s

products range from adapters, antenna assemblies and RF cable,

to all sorts of connectors – BNC, RF coaxial, TNC, SMA, SMB, MCX, MMCX and UHF. A notable recent addition is its patented High Density BNC connector (HD BNC), which retains the electrical characteristics of the original specifi cation within a footprint about a quarter of the size.

This allows for much higher packing densities on

circuit boards and equipment backplanes. The HD-BNC connector delivers both true 50-ohm and 75-ohm

impedance, making them ideal for HD video applications. In terms of PCB assembly, Songtech has done a lot of OEM production, from laying out the bare board to complete set assembly. It also builds power supplier products for OEMs and ODMs. 12.H67
