ATOMONE MINI AIR HAS LIGHT STUFF FOR FORMULA E RACE CARS Dream Chip BY DAVID FOX

Miniature camera specialist Dream Chip has recently integrated more than 50 AtomOne mini Air units into the fl eet of Formula E race cars. The cameras were bought by Timeline TV, which provides Formula E with the facilities needed to deliver production of the event to audiences of more than 381 million viewers. There are multiple AtomOne

mini Air cameras in each of the 22 cars, and Timeline chose them due to its tiny profi le (it’s the smallest SDI broadcast camera) and weight, its picture quality, its robust and reliable design, and its straightforward integration with existing control workfl ows. With dimensions that make it little bigger than a one euro coin, and weighing just 25g, the camera delivers 10-bit colour depth and 1080/60p/i output from a 1/2.5in sensor, with rolling shutter, S-mount lens and HDR capability

Racing line: The AtomOne mini Air is ideal for on-board race coverage

(HLG, PQ and SLog3). The 85° 3.4mm lens offers the ability to deliver shots that immerse viewers in the action: capturing the split- second reactions of the driver, the

view they have from the cockpit, or allowing for close-to-the-ground mounting to enhance the speed and excitement felt by audiences. 10.A43

EXPANSION IN THE STARS FOR WIRELESS ASTRAL RANGE Sound Devices BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Two additions to the Astral series of wireless audio products have been launched by Sound Devices, the A20- Nexus Go true diversity digital wireless receiver, and the A20-TX digital wireless transmitter.

Astral brings features such as Sound Devices’ SpectraBand, GainForward and NexLink technology into an ecosystem of wireless audio devices. The A20-Nexus Go is a portable four-, six- or eight- channel wireless receiver useful

technology enables users to scan a global tuning range of 169-1525MHz to quickly fi nd clean and open frequencies and assign transmitters using the receiver’s AutoAssign functionality.

It adjusts transmitter gain

directly from the receiver using GainForward and keeps tabs on potential RF diffi culties with its integrated Real Time Frequency Analysis functionality.

Astral tweaks: The A20-TX offers a wide range of input compatibility

for mobile rigs and fast-moving production. SpectraBand

Sound Devices says the A20-TX combines several technologies to make it an easily adaptable digital

wireless transmitter, claiming it offers a wider range of input compatibility than any other transmitter on the market. The A20-TX works with two- or

three-wire lavalier, dynamic and phantom-powered microphones, balanced line-level sources, AES digital mics and musical instruments. It utilises the same headroom mic preamp from Sound Devices’ 8-Series mixer- recorders, while the company’s long-range NexLink remote wireless control technology enables multiple A20-TX transmitters to be controlled remotely by Astral-series wireless receivers. 8.C95
