#IBC2023
Ethan Guo, Foreign Trade Manager, Shenzhen Lakeview Electronics
What are the biggest
challenges facing the media and entertainment industry? I believe the biggest challenges facing the media and
entertainment industry involve the rise of digital streaming platforms and online content consumption, which intensify competition for traditional broadcasting companies. Audiences are shifting towards on-demand and personalised viewing experiences, challenging the conventional broadcasting model.
How is your company helping its customers to address the challenges faced by the media and entertainment industry? As a manufacturer of button switches, I believe that offering our customers highly integrated and reliable button switches is the most direct way to help them meet this challenge. Our company has also launched the Zero Burden R&D initiative, aimed at assisting our customers in achieving new product development with fewer costs.
What do you think are the main drivers in your market sector? The industry’s driving force, much like the challenges we currently face, stems from the ever-evolving audiovisual demands of the audience and breakthrough advancements in related fields, such as 5G and AI. These factors are set to propel the industry’s growth. By adeptly understanding user needs and harnessing cutting- edge technology, we can surely
catch the winds of industry development and sail ahead.
What are your priorities for the next 12 months? This IBC marks our first participation since 2020. By analysing the data, I’ve noticed that there are many more exhibitors and attendees this year compared to before. As a result, I anticipate that the next 12 months will be quite busy for me. However, there are two main areas
I’ll be focusing on. First, my team and I will be organising customer inquiries from IBC and conducting in-person visits to some clients. Secondly, I will be dedicating my efforts to promoting our new- sized LCD button switches. This particular 24.5mm(w)x23.5mm(h) LCD button switch will offer a fresh selection for more control panel and video switcher manufacturers, streamlining their soldering processes.
What sets your company apart as a technology leader? Just as IBC’s principle is ‘by the industry, for the industry’, so Lakeview was founded due to our CEO’s interest in video switchers’ buttons. Every step of our growth has been intertwined with the industry’s support and assistance. As a result, we’re committed to allocating more resources to product research and development, continuously providing the industry with the high-quality, reasonably priced button switches it requires. 8.A88
SELENIO GETS NETWORK EXTENSION TO SMOOTH THE MOVE TO IP Imagine Communications BY ADRIAN PENNINGTON
The Selenio Network Processor (SNP) family is expanding with the introduction of SNP-XL, which extends the platform’s broad range of capabilities to support more
SDI-intensive applications. Alongside the SNP-XL, Imagine is using IBC to launch a new double-density gateway
personality. A SNP-XL fully loaded with this new personality can support 64 gateway channels of 1080p (32 in each direction) or 16 gateway channels of UHD (8 in each direction) – both directions fully synchronised – delivering twice the gateway capacity within the same unit footprint over a single 100G interface.
John Mailhot, CTO of Infrastructure, Imagine Communications, said: “The
ability to scale and adopt new formats has made IP an appealing design pattern, but everybody’s transition will be driven by their own economics. SNP-XL recognises the longevity and criticality of SDI even during the 2110/IP transition, offering a high-density synchronising gateway that enables customers to migrate to IP at a pace that aligns with their overall system strategy.”
SNP-XL supports all current SNP
37
capabilities – including UHD and HDR conversion, multiviewer, master control and JPEG XS – and increases flexibility by fully supporting the panoply of HD, 3G and 12G-SDI in and out in all combinations. This enables universal conversion at the front of a hybrid facility, sending the processed ingress signals out into the legacy SDI plant and simultaneously into the IP/2110 environment.
