ASTRA MCR OFFERS HARMONY WITH VOS360 Aveco

A new playout solution from Aveco integrates seamlessly with Harmonic’s VOS360 video cloud solution-as-a-service (SaaS) platform. VOS360 is fully controlled by the Astra MCR for hybrid and cloud-based playout using a single interface. This enables users to easily manage on-air operations in multiple locations and multiple formats: on-air, OTT and FAST channels. Aveco’s Astra MCR handles both on-premises and cloud media and metadata within a single
system. This allows organisations to use on-premises systems for regular playout, with VOS360 for distribution, pop-up/cloud channels and 1+1 redundancy of on-premises systems in the cloud. According to the company, this provides a cost-effective and robust backup playout system or disaster recovery (warm or cold) that can easily be added to current on-prem systems. Aveco automation includes extensive local-and-remote control of SCTE- 35 and SCTE-224 and 268. The combined system lets users choose the cloud service that’s right for them. 2.B49

Norway’s NRK has chosen Appear for its new media delivery platform. Appear is delivering a comprehensive service to NRK, building and running a compression platform capable of delivering high-quality encoding streams for transcoding by various content distributors across Norway, as well as for NRK’s OTT and DVB systems. As part of the managed service, Appear is expanding the deployment of its X and XC platforms while taking on operation and management of the solution. Its X Platform provides NRK
with mezzanine encoding expansion in DVB and OTT and manages live contribution of NRK’s premium live TV channels. Appear’s XC Platform brings NRK’s programmatic and events- based radio channels to NRK customers nationwide. Henrik Slåen, Head of Media Management and Publishing, NRK, said: “We were already using Appear’s X and XC Platforms because they fulfi lled many of our requirements, and when we needed to expand our platform to enable us to take our media distribution into the future, they were a natural choice.” 1.C61
