NEWS ROUND-UP Heinemann picks up speed in cruise channel
Ardent strides have been made in Gebr. Heinemann’s relatively new cruise business in the North American and Australasian markets, according to Luke Barras-Hill writing in the Top 10 International Operators Report (p40). Heinemann has contracts onboard
four vessels with cruise ship firm Carnival Cruise Line, including in the US with concessions on Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Ecstasy and Carnival Liberty. Additionally, Heinemann’s Asia
Pacific division, in collaboration with partner Heinemann Australia, runs operations on Carnival Spirit, which has undergone a full refurbishment this year. Carnival Liberty is also set for a full
remodel. In total, operations on the four ships span more than 1,220sq m where it operates all categories apart from fine jewellery. Following the opening of three of those concessions – Carnival Fantasy, Carnival
Ecstasy and Carnival Liberty [above] – in May, Heinemann Americas Managing Director Nadine Heubel voiced her elation to TRBusiness on the company’s evolution, the main onus of which is on supply activities. “Although it is too soon to draw any
firm conclusions, this new partnership confirms our observation that there is a growing need for duty free retailers in
this space and represents a wonderful growth opportunity for Heinemann Americas. “Over the next year we look forward to

Baltona Duty Free takes a bow at Wrocław Airport
Baltona Duty Free has opened four new departures shops and one in the public area at Wrocław. The retailer commenced the five-year
contract on 1 December 2017 having previously held the concession around five years earlier. Inspired by ‘the colourful heart of
Wrocław’, the six shops span a total area of around 800sq m and draw on the architectural legacy of the city while offering ‘state-of-the-art’ retail concepts.
The largest outlet is a multi-category Wrocław Duty Free shop spanning around 300sq m which has been open for some time. Designed with the airport and the region
in mind, the Wrocław Duty Free brand is a modern concept offering a range of travel retail products. The stores are a perfect reflection of
long-standing Baltona values, according to Baltona Duty Free CEO, Piotr Kazimierski. “In addition to a wide range of products
