D Procedure
Combine phase A ingredients and heat to 75˚C with propeller mixing. Combine phase B ingredients and heat to 75˚C. Mix until uniform. Add phase B to phase A with propeller mixing. Begin cooling. Homogenise for 3 minutes. Return to propeller mixing. At 40˚C, add phase C ingredients to batch. Cool to room temperature with propeller mixing. Adjust pH to 4.0-5.0 using phase D. Procedure Add the Versene Na2 Crystals to the deionsed water with medium propeller agitation and mix until completely dissolved. While heating to 75˚C-80˚C, add the remaining ingredients of phase A in the order listed with medium propeller agitation. In a separate vessel, mix all ingredients of phase B. While heating to 75˚C-80˚C, mix with propeller agitation until uniform. Add phase B to phase A with rapid propeller agitation at 75˚C-80˚C. Add phase C to phase AB with rapid propeller agitation at 75˚C-80˚C to achieve a pH of 6.5-7.5. Cool phase ABC to 45˚C-50˚C. Add phase D to phase ABC with moderate propeller agitation at 45˚C-50˚C to achieve a pH of 4.8-5.0. Add phase E to phase ABCD at 40˚C-45˚C and cool to room temperature. Add phase F when the batch has cooled to room temperature.

Prepare phase A, dispersing the thickeners using a suitable dispersion unit (e.g. Silverson, Ultra Turrax).
Prepare phase C, then warm phases A and C separately to 80˚C. Add phase B into hot phase A and homogenise using a suitable dispersion unit for 1 minute, maintaining temperature at 80˚C. Add phase C to phase AB and homogenise for 3 minutes. Maintain phase ABC at 80˚C for 20 minutes without mixing, then homogenise.
