Plymouth, WI — Kurtz Ersa is showcasing its wave soldering, reflow soldering, selective solder- ing, rework equipment, and Industry 4.0 connec- tivity at IPC APEX 2020. With the POWERFLOW Ultra system, Ersa presents a high-performance wave soldering system with flexible soldering batch technology. Technologically, the system is state-of-the-art

and includes process-relevant components. The POWERFLOW Ultra will be shown with an automation line, including Roboplace, Ersa Fit placement station with camera verification for cor- rect placement, lifts, and return conveyor. Ersa’s EXOS 10/26 is a convection reflow sol-

dering system with 22 heating and four cooling zones, as well as a vacuum chamber after the peak zone to remove voids in the solder contact areas between component and PCB surfaces. In addition to its extraordinary process relia-

bility, the system also offers extreme ease of main- tenance. The Ersa VERSAEYE module enables the

optimal documentation of solder joint quality on the basis of the user’s individual quality require- ments. Incorporating it into Ersa’s VERSAFLOW selective soldering systems, the VERSAEYE is optimized for the inspection of THT solder joints. Through the use of up to nine cameras it can detect different wetting problems, solder bridges, solder balls, or missed pins. The HR 550 XL offers guided rework for large

boards up to 21 x 21 in. (530 x 530 mm). The system performs safe rework of large assemblies with high- resolution cameras for placement and process moni- toring. The rework system offers computer-aided component alignment and digital split optics. The Ersa SOLDER SMART SR 500 works with

the powerful i-TOOL. Its heating power of 150W allows fast soldering processes with stable soldering temperature and the use of very fine soldering tips

from 0.02 to 0.2 in. (0.4 to 5 mm) wide. Contact: Kurtz Ersa, Inc., 1779

Nordson SELECT Pioneers Two-Segment Board Handling

Liberty Lake, WA —Nordson SELECT has launched two-segment board han- dling technology, allowing inline selec- tive soldering of PCBs without being panelized or requiring tooling. The “2segment” configuration is

After 2 million years, technology tells a colorful tale. Why does that matter?

Because CT scanning provides meaningful interpretive data for lots of objects.

To help scientists understand the work of millennia, and help engineers solve problems.

equipped with dual fluxers and dual solder pots and can solder two singu- lated boards in parallel mode, inline with the conveyor direction. This allows the selective soldering system to solder two PCBs at the same time, without the need for the boards to be in a panel or palletized. This allows the machine to sequentially process two boards at the same time without requiring any tooling. The 2segment configuration

provides a high degree of flexibility and throughput and can be operated in any of three different modes: sin- gle, parallel or sequential. In the first mode, single panels with multisize solder nozzles are operated with a single board stopper providing single board processing with one or two dif- ferent-sized solder nozzles. In the second mode, single panels with two solder nozzles in parallel are operat- ed with a single board stopper, allow- ing simultaneous soldering of one board or panel with two nozzles in parallel. In the third mode, single panels with two solder nozzles in parallel are operated with two stop- pers, allowing sequential soldering of two singulated boards, without the need for boards to be in a panel, be palletized or require tooling. This two-segment board han-

dling technology is available on Nordson SELECT Cerno® 508.1 and Integra® 508.2, 508.3, 508.4, and

508.5 models. Contact: Nordson SELECT,
