drew our near neighbours Youghal. In the first game we got off to a really poor start and were three goals behind after five minutes. We gradually settled and got back into the game but still trailed

at half

time. It was a good, phys- ical contest and we had a period of dominance ear- ly in the second half but the Youghal keeper made a few excellent saves to deny us a badly needed goal. Youghal then struck for two late goals to run out deserving winners. In the second game Killeagh played very well. We led at half time and were the bet- ter side throughout. Some poor shooting meant it was much closer on the score- board than it should have been. Good goalkeeping and defence saw us run out winners at the end. Over- all we won one and lost one but Youghal advanced to the final on aggregate scores. In the other semi-fi- nal Erins Own and Glen Rovers won one and lost one each, they also had the same aggregate score, so a coin toss was required to

separate them. Erins Own won the coin toss, which meant we had to play Glen Rovers in the plate final. In the first game against the Glen we started real- ly well at midfield. A few good early scores settled us and our defence was much tighter. We went in at half time leading by a couple of goals. In the second we cut loose upfront and got some great goals and points from play, to run out convincing winners. This was a great display by all. In the sec- ond game Glen Rovers were on top early. We tried hard and pick off some nice scores but the Glen were sharp upfront and we trailed at the break. The lads put in a big effort in the second half but Glen Rovers proved too strong in the end. Overall we won one and lost one but were deemed the winners at the end by virtue of a better aggregate

score. It was

a good, tough days hurl- ing and we have plenty to work on going forward. The U9 squad is as fol-

lows: Alex Fogarty, Alex Howey, Andrew Brenner,

Ben Geary, Billy Guer- in, Callum Power, Cathal Brennan, Cormac Deane, Cormac Delaney, Daniel Geary, Darragh Shee- han, Diarmuid Fitzpat- rick, Eoin Sheehan, John Farquhar, Patrick Dineen, Rian Lane, Rian O’Con- nor, Ryan Murphy, Sean O’Leary, Seanan McDon- nell, and Tom Power. The parish leagues for

all U9’s will continue this coming week. Hurling and football games will be played each Tuesday night and after these prelimi- nary games the semi-finals will be played to decide the final pairings. Please do your best to attend each of the games as you don’t want to let

your fellow

player’s down and best of luck to everybody taking part.

Killeagh/Ita’s Fe12’s The U12 football team

headed west for a league quarter final game against Clondrohid on Saturday September 23rd

. It was an

early start for everybody leaving Killeagh as the

game had an 11.30am throw-in. Many thanks and well done to all the boys and their parents who travelled to complete this fixture. At half time the boys were well on top and with fifteen minutes to go this game was in the bag. This was a great team performance with mighty football through out. We had some good scores from Sean Meade, Barry Walsh, Sean o Riordan and Fionn Murphy. We came away with a fine win to set up a semi-final with St. Vin- cents on Friday September 29th

. This was a game we

should have won, but we lost out by a point. The boys played their

hearts

out with great football. But St Vincents got a couple of late goals which broke the hearts of our young warriors. It was a very dis- appointing night because we were playing the better football game, but that is competitive sport where it can be sometimes great and sometimes cruel. We will no doubt learn from this for the future. We were so proud of the effort the

boys put in all year. Well done boys and keep up the great work. Also to the parents whose support for the boys and the mentors is great, so thank you for everything. Next up was the U12 parish leagues which started on Monday August 28th

and finished

on Sunday October 1st with the finals. There was a mix of U10, U11 and U12s on each team for football and hurling. Over those couple of weeks we watched some great games and there was some great talent on display. On Sun- day 1st

young footballers and hurl- ers. Thanks to our referees who took on the games and also helped

with of October our fi-

nals were played in good weather. The teams were led out on to the pitch pa- rading behind a lone piper. Yet again the boys played great football and hurling and throughout the par- ish leagues which is great to see for the future of the club. Also on display at the pitch was the U17 All Ireland hurling cup with Cork team member Tom O’Connell. We owe a huge debt of thanks to a lot of people who helped out on this special day for all our

games during the year, our referees were Ger Scully, Arthur Murphy, Paudie Kearney, Declan Long and Kean Kelly Budds. Thanks to all the U16 players who came on board for the parish leagues by taking a team and coaching the boys through the tourna- ment. Thanks to our ‘Pip- er’ Christy McCarthy from Youghal for giving the boys the privilege of marching out onto the fields, it was truly an enjoyable moment for everybody. Thanks to Sean Crowley for getting the All-Ireland U17 to Pairc Ui Chinneide and to Tommy for presenting the trophies to the win- ning captains. Thanks to Ursula and Tommy for a lot of work organising the pitches and teas and re- freshments for the day. A special thanks to the par- ents of

these young lads

who are great support to us each time we get together for training and games and also for all the nice goodies

for the cuppa afterwards. It was a great day so keep encouraging the boys to continue at the hurling and football

Golf Society: Our next outing will
