October 2017 Kenya Ball 2017 For Brighter Communities Worldwide A Great Success

by ALAN SHEEHAN Brighter Communities

Worldwide held its annual Kenya Ball celebration and fundraiser this past Satur- day, 14 October. The

event, hosted by

the Maryborough Hotel, Cork, was once again very

well supported by an ex- cess of guests including friends, family, volunteers, donors and invited guests as Brighter Communities Worldwide celebrated its 15 year anniversary. The Kenya Ball 2017 in-

cluded a drinks reception, a

three-course meal and

live music provided by the Jabronis, a nine-piece band, with a DJ then continuing through the night. Guests included the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork Council- lor Fergus Dennehy, His Excellency Mr Richard A. Opembe, Kenyan Ambas- sador to Ireland, and rep-

resentatives from Friends of Kipkelion, Kava Com- munications, Aspira and Moneenatieve Windfarm Limited. Proceeds from the Ken-

ya Ball will go towards supporting of Brighter Communities Worldwide’s community development

programmes in Kenya. The Kenya ball is the main yearly celebration of Brighter Communities Worldwide, which was known as Friends of Lond- iani until this past January, and the work it carries out which first began in Kenya in 2002.
