Come Diet With Me

by JOANNE DELANEY Well

what a

for six didn’t she? I’m hoping everyone is doing well and managed to get through the turmoil, I don’t know about you, but I was very much un- prepared! While living in Youghal

week, Ophelia really knocked us

by the sea in the summer is amazing, living there when

you get hit by a huge storm is absolutely frightening. Trying to diet through

a storm... well let’s just say that’s not going to work. Don’t get me wrong, I

prepared my food and had them ready in the fridge to heat up in microwave, with the force of the storm

it knocked so many trees over

they dragged

the

power cables with them leaving us with no power for almost 30 hours. And of course when you

have no power, you also have no Wi-Fi... This was not good at all. So you think, hey I’ll

light a fire, keep us nice and toasty... But no! The fire brigade told us not to

products! The active rosehip day

cream is my absolute fa- vourite of them all. Enhanced with hyalu-

ronic acid, this anti-ageing formula is enriched with Omega rich plant oils, re- generating vitamins, and fragrant oils of lemon & lavender to help leave skin plumped,

protected and

the rather wonderful work of Orla Kiely, whose trade- mark

prints have graced

everything from handbags to tea caddys (the designer collaborated with Bewleys a few years ago) to cars (a collaboration with Citroen). But now the London-based Irish

about to become a whole lot more

designer’s work is accessible,

with

the news she is to launch an exclusive range of beauty products with Boots. The

range, which in-

cludes soaps, hand and body cream and a body spray, is beautifully packaged in petal shaped bottles with a custom-designed print by Orla – the perfect way of introducing some design- er style to your bathroom. When nestled together, the bottles combine to create an eye-catching flower shape. There’s a choice

of two

fragrances – Sage Lavender in cool lilac and green, or Orange Caraway in bright

blues and oranges. ‘The range is completely

natural and also very prac- tical,’ says Orla. The hand- cream, for example, comes in a metal tube so it’s clear how much you have used, and how much is left. The gift

re-usable boxes – ‘they will make great

afterwards,’ she explains. Inspired, as is so much of

her work, by her love of na- ture, she reveals her favour- ite season is Spring. She has also incorporated her fondness for herbs into the product design – ‘I’m a herb rather than a flower per- son,’ she laughs. ‘I’d much rather display a pot of herbs at home, rather than pot plants.’ And she does

– as the

family grow their own herbs for cooking with. So, how does a

busy designer with several projects on the go, as well as her own range of fashion, accessories and homewares, relax – what’s her own beauty treat? ‘I would say a lovely soap or a body spray – those feel like indulgent treats,’ she says with a smile. This Orla Kiely gift

set includes an Orange & Caraway Hand Wash and Hand Lotion to leave your hands feeling soft and smell- ing heavenly.

CONTAINS:

• 1 x 300ml Hand Wash • 1 x 300ml Hand Lotion • And at only €19 it’s a

bargain!!

light a fire due to gail force winds coming down the chimney... so let’s sum this up...

No electricity, no hot

food, no Wi-Fi, no gas heating, no nire, the worst storm to hit Ireland in years outside our window and our mobile phones were going dead... Something tells me July 2018 is going to be an ex-

ceptionally busy time in the maternity wards across Ireland. I didn’t make it to slim- ming world this week, so I’m not too sure how much I’m down or up... But two nights of takeaway foods are really not helping. This weekend is not looking too good for us ei- ther, as Storm Brian makes his way towards the Irish

shoreline. Let’s just hope he’s no comparison to

people

Ophelia.

Please stay safe out there, wrap up warm and stay in- doors if you can, Three

sadly lost their lives in hurri-

cane Ophelia, our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to their families at this very sad time. Until Next Week x
