Youghal Credit Union Support Yalloween Spooktacular Festival
by DENISE FITZGERALD It’s only just over a
week away and already the children are getting their spooky costumes ready, parents are buying treats each week to pile up inside their doors for the Trick or Treaters, and Youghal4All have done it all!
Everything is or-
ganised, arranged, put in place. Special effects are hanging, ready to come out, and An Bean Uisce is cackling in anticipation of her annual visit to the seaside town. Youghal Credit Union
acknowledges the work and effort of the commit- tee, and are aware of the numbers of people who will be drawn to the town over the weekend festival from all over the East Cork and West Waterford areas, and further afield. To show their commit-
ment to the Festival week- end, they are on board as Main Sponsors and last

group
of young students from Bunscoil Mhuire waited excitedly to hear her en- thralling stories. Author of two superb Children’s Books, Paula spent her childhood in Africa, mov- ing to Ireland in 2003. The
fascinated children
heard all about life in Af- rica, including tales of
poisonous snakes called Puff Adders, Elephants and other exciting animals never
seen by many of
them. Paula’s books, set in Af-
rica, include The Butterfly Heart’ and ‘The Sleeping Baobab Tree’ and her tell- ing of the stories had the young children wide eyed and mesmerized. Anoth- er of her books, entitled ‘The Keepsake’ is set in Ireland and Paula was delighted to show the cap- tivated audience her own personal keepsakes of Africa which included an old Army Shell, an Amber
Stone and an intricately beaded wire elephant. A question and answer between Author
session
and Students resulted in the young
audience
learning of what life is like growing up in Africa, and impressing the Children’s Author with their own knowledge of Africa. Ikki Keane, Youghal
Library, told The East Cork Journal that both Author and Children en- joyed an amazing hour to- gether, and was delighted to say that Paula’s books are available to borrow in Youghal Library.
