Ageing Week On Wednesday October 4th a group (70 strong) trav- elled from Midleton by train to Killarney and as in previous years this trip was the highlight of the year and as Chairperson I would like to pay tribute to those who gave of their time since last February organising this trip - Rita O Keeffe, Josie Buckley, Pat Burke and Anne White, Joan and her staff in Castlerosse Hotel were very helpful organising suitable accommodation etc., for us on October 4th. The trip on the Lake was wonderful and the meal served at the banquet was top class and the music for dancing by Pat Burke and Frank was enjoyed by all including some ladies from Water- ford who availed of the opportunity to dance to great music. Similarly on October 5th we received a Céad Mile Failte from Mary and her staff in Kate Kearney’s Cottage and once again we were treated to a beautiful meal after which we danced to the music of the singing Jarvey, until the bus arrived to take us back to the train station for returning home. Billy Warne, Mary Sisk, John Joe Lynch and Pat Burke were in good voice on both days. It would be remiss of me not to extend heartfelt and sincere thanks on a personal note and on behalf of our Committee to the following people in Ian- raid Eireann Andrew Roche, Lelia and the station staff in Cork who went far and beyond the call of duty to assist our group before and on the day we travelled to Killarney and also on our arrival in Cork on the return journey - very much appreciated by all. Thanks to O’ Callaghan Bus crew for ferrying us to each event during our trip and of course to kind staff in Castlerosse Hotel and Kate Kearney’s Cottage. We must not forget our loyal supporters who have travelled with us over the past seven years - thank you all for being with us and to say it was a pleasure to deal with you. Lastly to the East Cork Newspapers especially East Cork Journal for the publicity you gave us highlighting the trip - long may both papers continue to prosper for the benefit of the East Cork Area.
