• Club night Wednesday. East Cork Athletics Last Sunday 21st

Midleton Juvenile Athletics Club of May

saw day two of the Coun- ties take place in CIT. Af- ter changeable weather on the week leading up to the big day, it turned out to be pretty good on the day and some of our athletes definitely shone. The U9 girls were first up and for some this was their first big occasion infront of a crowd which can be a big ask for some. One bright

star that

didn’t seem to hinder was Elle Kate McRae who

shot some it

won the long jump clear- ing over 3 metres and who also came second in the 300mts. Well done also to Alex Taworski who got the silver medal in the 300 mts. Roisin McManus continued her fine form of last year and took the gold medal in the 60 mts. Rosemary Alamu took the girls U11 long jump gold and Odhran O’Sullivan took the gold in the boys 600mts. Robert

Olden

took gold in the boys Long jump and Silver in the

Onto the girls U13 and fantastic perfor-

mances saw Selena O’Ri- ordan take double gold in the Long jump and Jave- lin. A County Champion twice in the one day; fan- tastic Selena, well done. Others to take medals

or become County Cham- pions on the day were Joel Joseph who was second in the boys U13 80 mts, and George Alamu who took bronze in the high jump, silver in the discus and went one better in the shot when he became county champion. Fantas- tic George, well done. Leah Parker, who took silver in the Javelin and

won the Hammer with a throw of 36.12, over 10 mts ahead of her near- est competitor. Well done Leah. Blessing Alamu took bronze

in the girls

U14 Javelin and gold in the long jump. In the boys U15 200 and 2nd

mts, it was 1st for

David Joseph and Sean O’Riordan. Well done lads . Sean also went on to take gold in the discus with a throw of 36.11, over 11 mts clear of 2nd

place, and

gold in the shot. He had seen his sister win double gold so a good day in the O’Riordan household. Not sure if Mark got to see much of it as he was helping officiate on the

day. Without people like this we can’t run these events so thank you Mark. Lia O’Brien took sec- ond place in the

girls

200mts and also took sil- ver in the high jump, well done Lia. Daragh O’Sul- livan took bronze in the boys U16 800 mts. Fan- tastic finish Daragh, well done.

Emmanuel Alamu took

the bronze in the high jump, well done Emma- nuel and another suc- cessful day for the Alamu family. To round off the medals Roisin

letes who competed on the day. It was fantastic to see the new hoodies dotted around the course, and you were all a credit to your families and the club for showing your support to other athletes. Thanks also to those who came to

support,

always welcome. If an- yone is available to help out on the 28th

of May at

the County B’s / Relays please

let O’Cal-

laghan took bronze in the girls U18 200 mts. Great display Roisin , well done. Well done to all the ath-

Garry know

on 086-8382423 or give you name at the door on the day. Each club are re- quired to have officials so it would be nice not to de- pend on the same people week in week out. They would also like to see their

kids compete. Training continues this

week for those competing in the County B’s and Re- lays on the 28th

. Don’t for-

get to inform Joan of your chosen events, for both the County B’s and the Mun- sters on the June weekend for those competing. While we all use our

phones to take photos at different events, we would like to remind the athletes that

these are not to be

used while training is on- going. Please be respect- ful to other athletes and coaches. A more detailed report on the Counties will be issued next week but below are some recent winners and competitors.
