35 Killeagh and Kyle National School First Holy Communions by DENISE FITZGERALD Thirty young children
from Killeagh and Kyle NS received their First Holy Communion on Saturday last and the 21 girls and 9 boys, with their
family and friends, filled the Church in Killeagh. Celebrated by Fr Tim Hazelwood, the ceremo- ny included the involve- ment of the children with Daire and Karen lighting the Welcome
Candle. The Symbols Procession
included Blanaid, Max, Seán, Abigail, Darragh and Niamh. Prayer be- fore
Communion was
read by Rory, Emily, Anna, Daisy, Megan, Pat- rick, Amelia and Isobel, and the children went to the Altar to receive the
Sacrament accompanied by the magnificent Panis Angelicus sung by Geral- dine O’Driscoll. Prayer after Commun- ion was ready by Órlaith, Rueben, Kian, Grace, Ellie and Eoghan and the Communion children
then sang together “Gifts from God”. Fr Hazelwood extended
thanks to all who helped in any way with the First Holy Communions 2017 including School Princi- pals, Teachers Ms Irwin and Ms Morrison for the
magnificent Choir, Or- ganist Mary Daly, Sinéad for organising the Book- let, Sacristan Marian, the Flower Arrangers, FÁS workers for the beautiful gardens, all the parents and families, and particu- larly the children of 2nd
Class. And as the children
with their families and friends left the Church, the peels of The Angelus rang from the Tower to welcome them, bringing the lovely Ceremony to a close.
